I wonder if everyone out there knows just how small the Kalita Wave 155 glass brewer is.
I thought it was much bigger before buying one a few years ago.
Look at it side by side with the small Origami Flower brewer, intended for the same filter. Or the V60 No.2 brewer. It's tiny! And surely a pretty big difference in brew profile. (IMO, the Origami gives the better extraction: less bypass).
A post this morning on a very intriguing and feature-rich pour over system from Melitta that gets almost no mention at all in the usual influencer circles, for reasons you might not expect.
New up on CoffeeGeek: our quick take and look at the new Able Brewing Black Titanium KONE filter. Great for that complete cup of coffee, and perfect for those who don't like the "metallic" taste some steel filters impart to the cup.
Do you enjoy pour over coffee, but are looking for a way to "up" your game in that department, or get even better results? Well if you're willing to also put in the extra cleaning work cloth requires, Using a cloth-based pour over system might be the way to go for you.
Check out CoffeeGeek's full How to on Cloth Pour Over systems.
We had two major #coffee#pourover articles posted today on CoffeeGeek. The second is an updated version of our popular Hario V60 How To guide. We added some history about Hario to the article, after the step by step.
Fresh, and updated on CoffeeGeek today: Our comprehensive visual step by step guide to using a Hario V60 coffee brewing system! We've added some history and background to the brewer in this guide.
If you like #pourover, and like #history, and especially like #coffeehistory (who doesn't, amirite?) then the article we published this AM, a featured opinion article, is right up your alley.
Pour Over Coffee: Its History and Development. A Feature.
One of the more important articles I've written on CoffeeGeek in some time. It's all about getting the best possible cup of pour over, siphon, press pot and AeroPress coffee, but without the need for an expensive (or even inexpensive) scale.
One of the most important articles I've written on CoffeeGeek in some time.
The One to Fourteen. It's all about coffee ratios and how to get the best cup of non-espresso brewed coffee... even if you don't own a scale. Read, share, comment, enjoy!
Our full and detailed How To on using a Cloth Filter Pour Over Device. If you want a cup of pour over that completely obliterates paper filter pour over, this is how you do it. Just be ready to clean that cloth!

New updated content at CoffeeGeek: our updated Snapshot Review of the #Hario Mugen Dripper. At under $15 (and currently $10 USD) it's a must buy if you're into pour over coffee (and especially want to experiment with no-bypass brewing).
Perfect Daily Grind (a web content producer I really tried to get and join the #fediverse, but so far, they haven't done so) has a really good guide on the Origami filter holder brewer online today. Interviews with former brewing champs, lots of info on filter papers, and more.
(ps, consider contacting PDG and tell them to join the fediverse).
Haven't seen anyone of outside of Japan review this elegant beast of a connected pour over brewer (with, by the way, a built in TDS meter!!) so... we're reviewing it on CoffeeGeek. The Melitta Senz V Connected Pour Over Brewer. Some things to love, some things to be very frustrated about. Coming in early January on CoffeeGeek.
Hario (I wish they were in the #fediverse) posted a very interesting video today showing a cut-out V60 and how agitation vs no agitation works in their brewer.
This remains the best temperature control #gooseneck#pourover kettle I have ever used or tested.
Our original test unit from nearly 6 years ago is used around 5x per day. Every day, for 6 years. That's over 10,000 cycles. And it works just like new (it's been descaled a few times.
It's the OXO Gooseneck Temperature Control Kettle. Fast. Great pour. Bulletproof.
Also one of the highest scored products ever on CoffeeGeek.
Do you get frustrated by all the talk of coffee and #scales? Don't have a 0.1g scale of your own?
Here's a handy tip: a slightly rounded tablespoon of #pourover ground coffee is 7g of coffee, +/- .2g. A flat tablespoon of espresso ground coffee is 7g.
If you have a measuring cup, start with the ratio of 1tbsp coffee per 100ml of water used. That puts you in the 1:14 ratio for brewed coffee, our preference at CoffeeGeek.
Another Youtuber I love (even though he's also a vendor) is the Alternative Brewing guy, Josh. I feel Josh is pretty honest in his videos, isn't afraid to call out product issues, and more importantly, isn't afraid to show his mistakes.
He also does a lot of good educational videos, like this recent one on the 4:6 #pourover#coffee method.
I'm trying to find reasons to recommend the Turin #SD40 (in white) over the Turin #SK40 (black droid looking grinder on the left). Both are similarly priced.
There aren't many: the SD40 is slightly smaller. It is easier to adjust from #espresso to #pourover grinds. That's about it.
