Remember set up new on-by-default sharing of your account information with every other Patreon user (and maybe the world)? Remember people posting how to turn it off, because they were using confusing language/dark patterns to try to you into oversharing?

I got the "welcome to the new Patreon" today, and ... they've turned the "Community Profile" setting back on after I deliberately turned it off.

Go check your settings, and opt out -- again.

I gotta say, they really sh*t the bed on this . It's . It's huge, it's , and like way too many new designs these days, it wastes an inordinate amount of the available screen space, so it's hardly showing you any actual content at all.

The old feed was approximately 237 times more useful than the new design. Give or take.

Hey! Is there a technical reason why printer paper trays don't hold a full 500 sheet ream? It's bugged me forever that I have to have an open pack sitting around.

Thanks!

cazabon,

@ordrad

Some printers have large-capacity trays that take a full ream [1] or even more; I have one. They're usually optional for workgroup-type printers; I've seen them as standard equipment on the really big ones. One I saw held 1,500 sheets in a single tray, and it had multiple trays that size.

You'll never see them on a consumer or single-user printer. Those trays just seem to get smaller over time.

  1. Don't get me started on companies selling 400-sheet "reams".
