FOSS is not some fundamental component of the fabric of nature that is unalterable.
We made it up. It's fairy dust.
And it was made up to be commercially viable, and supported and promoted as such by the entities that stood to gain from it.
But, you know, it doesn't have to be that. We can make it mean something new, something that opposes capitalism, not play nice with it. It can be the representation of the creativity and talent of myriads of people.
it was a year ago today my dog millie passed away
she meant the world to me..
she loved to ruin other people's fun. she would take sally's sticks and carry them around - not because she wanted to play, just to stop sally from playing.
she had a talent for slowly expanding on the settee, and pushing whoever was sat there off.
she died of a heart condition, which was accelerated by the loss of sally, who died 10 days earlier..
.. monday marked a year since my dog, sally, passed.
i grew up with her and loved her wholeheartedly
she was obsessed with sticks, balls and anything moving. when you cuddled her, the fluff around her neck formed a mane and she looked like a budget lion.. she died of lymphoma
on a vaguely similar note: i've been thinking a lot on just how much information there must be publicly accessible on the internet.
i wonder if from the moment you were born, how long would it take to read every blog post, listen to every song, watch ever video.. ect
(disregarding language barriers and eating and sleeping and all that)
how many lifetimes?
this scale of this stuff is dizzying..
just thinking about it sends shivers down my spine, yet simultaneously is comforting..

i was in a bookshop recently. the place was huge; 4 stories, each crammed with shelves wall to wall, and books packed wherever there'd fit.
i was wandering through the basement, and after stumbling through room after room the magnitude of the place caught up with me and i saw black for a few seconds. similarly, the amount of material there was incomprehensible.

the biggest argument for a free web. it's a crime to have this much information, but insist on restricting it arbitrarily.
