I don't fully understand all of the USB HID things, but I understand that the standard keyboard device has 6KRO limit, and this mode must be used for interacting with old BIOSes.
The NKRO version can be enabled on some keyboards, but isn't the default on many so they work from power on in the BIOS.
Is there a reason a keyboard doesn't use both? Register the first 6 keys on the simple one, but when a 7th key is pressed that goes through the NKRO?
It would be nice to give emoji more meaning this way. If also custom emoji are supported, then the "boost appreciated" #emoji can be filtered on, for instance. And #❓ can be alternative for #AskFedi for instance.
Anybody have recommendations for #email providers? I've been using @mailbox_org since 2019 but the service is going downhill. They are outright blocking mail from a number of legit senders, support now takes days to respond and when it does it's not particularly helpful).
Is there a command-line tool that takes arbitrary UTF-8 text and formats it into 72 characters per line with linebreaks set properly and two spaces after a period? #AskMastodon#AskFedi :BoostOK:
For Europeans wanting to remove their data from #stackoverflow, wouldn't a GDPR deletion request do the trick? I wish we had real data privacy laws in my country.
This is what I think is a basic question. When a bank sells a home loan it's selling the total value of the loan, which is principal and expected total interest paid minus payments so far, right?
having moved back to north America from the UK, I no longer have any idea what the going rate for a senior freelance electronics engineer is. Any suggestions? #askfedi#getFediHired
#emacs#logseq anyone have a working setup with logseq (in orgdown) and #orgroam playing nice in logseq's folder (orgroam dailies in 'journals', etc)? Currently my vault is a mix of org and md but I'm hoping to at least get the org files recognized while I work on converting the md (or figure out #mdroam). I tried playing with org-logseq but even though I'm matching correctly on its grep for the folder and I have title properties I couldn't get it working after a good attempt. #askfedi
So, is there a way for a Canadian to get Grit TV without having to pay some ridiculous cost for streaming "packages" and without having to use some shitty "app"? For something that is free to air it sure seems hard to get. :-( #askfedi#western
I want to get back into photography but I'm not sure what are some good cameras these days. I used to have a cannon T5 and was considering getting a T7 because it's not super expensive but I am also curious about getting a mirrorless camera.
Any suggestions for hobbyist photography?
I primarily shoot food pictures for work, and various landscapes and such when traveling

Is there a way, even using a different structure (but possibly keeping those items grouped), to have an unique numbering for all those items in the page?
#askfedi I remember someone posting awhile back about a #Firefox extension that collected #RSS feeds as you browsed, but I can't seem to find it anymore in the mastodon search or in Firefox's extension search. Anyone know of such an extension?
Has someone explored fully replacing the Mastodon frontend with another web app? I am going to try it soon but maybe someone did already. #askMastodon#askFedi
Does anyone know Android app that can get a list of phone numbers, and when any of them call, it picks up the phone, plays a specified audio file (e.g recorded message) and then hang up?
and has Substack remain diminished because of their moderation issues?
I am curious if those who bailed from substack, like @Daojoan, have tracked that site's condition after it took a hit and where or what alternatives people who have left as creators or members have gravitated to.
