Literally not how federation works.

Who remembers the subreddits that Reddit did dirty?

A lot of redditors today think that Reddit became a hard left echo chamber organically. This couldn't be further from the truth. It once played host to a large amount of conservative subs, and Reddit's admins worked hard to eliminate this community. There have been false flags, constant harassment, selective enforcement of...

As I recall, most of those subs got the boot for not moderating, brigading, threats, etc.

Nice try to change the narrative but no one is buying.

Browsing on memmy right now, it’s pretty cool. Mlem was unstable for me, waiting on an update.

4am,
@4am@lemmy.world avatar

Exactly, so might as well do the right thing anyway if they’re gonna complain either way

What a catch 22; you feel the burn and you clench up which only makes it worse

Who could have loose cheeks with literal fire raining down?

I was going to ask about that - is that a Sonos-only feature or can you do that with other devices like ChromeCast/Google TV?

I’ve only ever tried sending messages from the Media Player card to a ChromeCast and it stops whatever is playing so I never bothered to explore further…

question regarding external NSFW communities.

Hi, reddit refugee here. I saw the rule in the main post stating that this instance will not allow NSFW content for now due to the legal ramifications & moderating needs. I 100% understand and agree with that decision, however, does this mean that I (as a user registered to sh.itjust.works) cannot subscribe to, read, or post in...

Doesn’t that cause this instance to cache all the posts from that Community? Wouldn’t that violate the wishes of the owners of your instance, since they are now hosting the cache of the NSFW content?

Correct, the water gets vibrated into mist and I like evaporation that will also kick up any minerals in the water. You can filter it but that typically doesn’t solve it completely.

Agreed. If they want our data then they need us, and we need access. Stop cloaking your APIs behind a paywall.

Go cloak, go broke 😂

It’s so overtly ridiculous at this point.

Elon bought Twitter to ruin it because he didn’t like the direction the conversation was going there. He didn’t like the Town Square discussing anything to do with how capitalism has reached dystopian levels of capture by the richest and how something must be done. This is now he got the Saudis to help him buy in, because they wanted it dead before there could be another Arab Spring.

Why aren't there more admin level graphical tools available for Linux? Or if there are, what are they? (youtu.be)

I understand the usefulness of the terminal and how universal it is for troubleshooting across distros. But can't there be a way to make a nice graphical tool for the various admin level tasks that need to be performed?...

I've had significant issues with Mlem, although it's very nice when it does work. Happy to try this one out as well!

@4am@lemmy.world avatar

That was my experience as well - Mlem looks and feels very nice to browse with but the second I post, reply, or upvote, the current version crashes. I think it's related to slow responses from the server, because when I go back in a web browser, I can see whatever actions I took. Memmy hasn't crashed on me at all so far. I will continue to test both, as I kind of prefer the "stick with iOS UI language" approach of Mlem but I love the desk mode and hinting at compact browsing that is going on over at Memmy. Exciting times!

@4am@lemmy.world avatar

Just coming back to say I am really liking Memmy, it seems much further along than Mlem; how do I edit a comment though? 🤔

4am,
@4am@lemmy.world avatar

I’ve been using Memmy almost exclusively now that I’ve tried it. I do love the Apollo-feel; it really was ideal for sites like this and the closer you can get to that, the better! Great work so far!

4am,
@4am@lemmy.world avatar

Yeah I’ve been surprised with some big ol full screen furry porn as I browse All…

Both Mlem and Memmy are in testing, you need to download TestFlight from the App Store, go through the steps to activate it, and then go to memmy’s GitHub page from your device and click on the download link, which opens in TestFlight and on-boards you into the beta program.

After that you just run it like any other app; except when it crashes it will ask if you want to submit crash data to the devs (please do!). I’m not sure if TestFlight does any other data collection or tracking.

I mean i hate to be that guy that sounds like your English teacher from middle school, but the other side of it is that someone could create a version with the correct capitalization, and then you have two (which is confusing) and then they fight for popularity (which is probably bad for encouraging new users). Are Lemmy communities case-sensitive?

4am,
@4am@lemmy.world avatar

Ahh, that would be excellent, that would mean it’s no big deal to correct it. I need to read up on Lemmy more!

4am,
@4am@lemmy.world avatar

I’m not sure that’s true. Just because the game world maps are built to overlay doesn’t mean they’re loaded at the same time; we’re not sure if that would trigger a depths loading or not (it very well might)

So what happens if you clip through the ground in the Depths?

PayPal is banning fascists and science deniers. It’s a bad look and they don’t want your business. Seems pretty straightforward to me, no matter how much the “just asking questions” crowd wants to shocked Pikachu face.
