Ugh. On a personal level my desire to dive into this playtest is zero. It’s not a commentary on the process or the quality just I think I’m done with 5e. In all it’s forms probably. I have had so much fun running MCC and DCC lately and am dying to run Shadowdark. It’s a weird place to be but I’ve been here before.

@darjr I was so burned out at the end of both 2E and 3E. And that’s without the emotional rollercoaster everyone has gone through.

@darjr It's going to really vary how folks feel about an actual 6E vs 5E revised. Most probably want a 5E update. It's the safe bet. 5E is really really good, so it makes sense. I love new editions, but 5E is undeniably good.

@darjr The OGL fiasco was super hard, but I also have always known WotC was capable of that. It almost happened with 4E. I accept it for what it is, while also trying to encourage them to be better. But they are a corp, and comparable to many other RPG corps I work with in terms of shenanigans.

@darjr I truly dislike the specific tactic. That said, Magic has a long history of having to find ways to enforce its embargo. The embargoes are super well known to anyone streaming MtG. So, it was likely a really crap move by that streamer. An actual news organization would never have shared all those cards. We live in an era of crap non-journalism masquerading as journalism and people won't seek out actual journalism. So the companies have to do something and it isn't going to be what we like.

@bedirthan @darjr I don''t super know the details, but it seemed from what I read that he was well acquainted with how the industry works. It's hard not to know if you are the type of person buying cases or at all reading up on card sets.

@bedirthan @darjr There are for sure better strategies than sending thugs to some dude's house. I've had the cops show up at an apartment looking for the owner. One of the scariest moments of my life because of how the cops handled it. I told them, "I'm not guilty, but you guys are making this unsafe." Wotc needs to find ways to handle news and releases in this era. But I am not stunned by the events because YT "news" is so volatile.

@KeithAmmann That's why I added the part in the blog about the sources. Right now, a campaign doesn't choose sources, it only chooses additional sharing. That really needs to change. For all the reasons.
