I saw an ad today for a adventure that is almost one thousand pages long! That seems kind of ridiculous.

In the same amount of words it takes to list a single 2014 character's official personality I was able to list the six characters, their origin fiction and their personalities.

I'm never not using short-form personality again.

maybe this is a hot take, but i think having broad weapon proficiency makes sense for fighters and maybe monks.

pretty much every one else that gets weapon proficiencies should be choosing one or two weapons that they've trained with, and they should need to re-train over a week or more before being proficient with something else.

The two things that I personally feel have always been terrible about the design of are the class-based character development system and the Vancian magic system.

These systems irrationally limit the choices players can make in designing and developing their PCs, and TSR/WotC/Hasbro has missed so many opportunities to do away with these systems over the past 50 years.

But, they can be fixed, within the existing framework of . (more)

Credit where it's due, it's a relief that DnDBeyond has confirmed #DnD's 5.5 edition will be included in the Creative Commons SRD. This will be a net gain for the #TTRPG hobby, whatever WotC/Hasbro have planned to leverage profits from their famous brand.

We're still waiting on the promised 3.5 rules CC SRD as well, though.

The Helm of Positivity came into play during tonight's game, in which the paladin Valinor summoned a wall of radiance.

And damn, is that thing bright or what?

The shadows I'd planned to ambush the party with were forced to retreat from the brilliant light, which also revealed their original corpses in the nearby lake.

Those corpses - nicely pickled - led the group to suspect there is a black dragon lair nearby.

This is surely one of those days where I am plagued by unidentifiable anxiety about every single thing I got going on right now.

Am I doing a good job? Should I really do the whole thing with my free time? Are my campaigns fun, am I neglecting them and my players? Couldn't I be doing something big RIGHT now? Why do I want to find another with all I already got going on? I wouldn't even have the time!

I am getting better with all this, but it's still there quite often.

Now I think I am going to have a look at it again.

Will have to remove the Midkemia references though.

By the way, did you know that Reymond E. Feist's Riftwar novels started out with a #dnd campaign (which crossed over with #tekumel?)
