If you look at our history, there has always been a sort of club where those involved in wrongdoing end up being shielded from real accountability. There are no other examples of a president being criminally prosecuted for anything.
People say that is because the founders never imagined that a criminal would be elected president, but given the lack of mention of slavery until the 13th amendment I have a feeling that’s not quite the case.
Seems like he’s already been fined $500,000, so probably not worried about the legal consequences anymore.
I am pretty sure there’s also IRS issues and possibly other federal law implications, but who are we to keep him from slamming his body parts in doors?
It’s my goddamn motherfucking mobile data and MY PHONE. I should be able to use it however I want. My wifi went down because the greedy, cunt-faced shitbags at Comcast stole taxpayer subsidies to enrich themselves instead of actually providing the service we’re paying for. I tried to switch to a mobile hotspot and my phone...
Something that may help with diagnosis is to try a portable version of firefox. If the portable version works properly and your installed version does not then it could be either some setting or library that is having problems.
Would also try running as a different user to see if maybe the issue is with something in your user profile.
Was there even a mass exodus? I largely avoid Reddit now, but I do kind of doubt that they’ve been hurt in any meaningful way by all the protests and people leaving…
What injustice? Reddit is “their” website and they can do what they want with it, we have always only been allowed to use it for their enrichment. The farmer is always very nice to his animals until its time to cash out.
Lemmy is hopefully the fix, in that it doesnt need to turn a profit, and we’re not locked in.
As the child of immigrants, I can tell you that running off and living your life is absolutely a viable strategy, and I’ve spent my whole life trying to underssand what happened so that the same thing doesn’t happen to my family again.
All that said, it is a website. The planet is broiling around us and the people responsible are not just free, but living like kings.

<span style="color:#323232;">Universal literacy was supposed to educate the common man to control his environment. Once he could read and write he would have a mind fit to rule. So ran the democratic doctrine. But instead of a mind, universal literacy has given him rubber stamps, rubber stamps inked with advertising slogans, with editorials, with published scientific data, with the trivialities of the tabloids and the platitudes of history, but quite innocent of original thought. Each man's rubber stamps are the duplicates of millions of others, so that when those millions are exposed to the same stimuli, all receive identical imprints. It may seem an exaggeration to say that the American public gets most of its ideas in this wholesale fashion. The mechanism by which ideas are disseminated on a large scale is propaganda, in the broad sense of an organized effort to spread a particular belief or doctrine.

The more interesting part, IMHO, is that Trump argues they never should have charged as much as they did because…
It’s getting hard to keep them all straight these days.
It is funny that the law firm would never have been hired if he wouldn’t have tried to back out. I don’t really care which of them is right, and I’m definitely not rooting for the law firm, but this is some funny stuff.
