Emacs Gnus + RSS

I'm a heavy Gnus user, but apparently Elffeed is much better for RSS.

I think the last time I felt excited about the Internet was when Firefox was released.

Is there a way to browse SSL websites on this version of IRIX?

I remember having this wallpaper back in the early 00s. Really cool wallpaper :)

There has been a surge of new users on USENET as of late. If you're looking for a free NNTP server, I recommend eternal-september.

Stop by misc.news.internet.discuss if you're looking for a general discussion group :)

Do you mean a BBS that could communicate with the Fediverse via the Activitypub protocol? Not sure if your post was a joke, but it might be doable lol. Synchronet is open source, and if someone is willing to get their hands dirty, it can be done.

Someone would need to make a request to news.groups.proposals if it needs to be under the big-8. Otherwise, there is alt.*.

Not exactly what you're looking for, but someone wrote a TUI for Lemmy: https://github.com/mrusme/neonmodem

The internet is great again, thanks to all of you 🙂

I'm 32, I remember using the internet before google was a thing, discovering flashy websites, hanging out on all kinds of internet forums and chatrooms, ebaums world, MySpace, new grounds... I rember when YouTube was just starting off and it was exploding with all kinds of content....

I still use it to test websites for accessibility at work. It's a great way to visualise what a screenreader might see.

I saw this video yesterday. LGR wasn't impressed much. I would probably buy the 386 tablet, though.

I remember trying it out back in 2002-2003. Pretty cool little unix-like system.

@unixporn [CTWM] NetBSD

NetBSD default config, is it just me or is this color scheme really cool?

I know some people who think they don't need to save up because CPP will be enough LOL.

Sharp PC-1251

I own a Sharp PC-1251. Untill a few Years ago it was in full working condition, then the LCD deceased. Ist there any chance to replace or repair this with moderate efforts? I miss my BASIC-spaghetti-code and the micro-cassette drive for storage ,,, https://lemmy.sdf.org/pictrs/image/9a2ef90d-e555-42cf-ac1a-cd26c494ed72.png

Check out Jeff Birt on YouTube. The guy is a pro at repairing these.

Same here. Still running Debian 11 and it's working well.
