It’s great that the app handles the regular urls natively, better so than browsing on the default website, but could we get support for the community links....
it’s an eyesore to use the app with the down vote icons since my instance disabled them. when you click on them they work but obviously it doesn’t actually do anything (the animation works but the down vote isn’t registered since they’re off on the instance)...
This is only true if you consider popularity to be the end-all determinant of quality content. Plenty of shit gets downvoted solely because people disagree with it.
I am in the opinion that some alternative UIs should be available on the instance (domain) – if possible, of course. Lemmy.world already has many alt. UIs, I think we should have something like that. So, here’s a list:...
To convince me that they are Hamas, and thus combatants and not civilians, needs more credible evidence, though.
So what? Hamas forfeited their position to complain about differing combatants and civilians when they chose to engage as irregular combatants. To that end, everyone who stays in combat areas when told to evacuate should be considered a combatant. But the nature of irregular combatants and warfare is probably just something we should agree to disagree on here.
In short, my problem isn’t with what’s being reported, but who is doing it.
I absolutely agree that a huge amount of reporting is less than honest. But my main question is then, who do you consider a viable source, if anyone, or what’s your strategy for getting information you can trust, if you don’t consider any sources to be up to snuff?
Well I mean yeah, but that’s not going to happen. Hamas and their friends have a vested interest in making it look like they’re just a bunch of victims.
I guess the reason I’m curious is because I find a lot of people (yourself not included) who more or less dismiss every source that backs up Israel’s stance/actions as just being zionist propaganda or whatever, so I’m interested in what we (in a general sense) could find that would serve as a sort of common ground of facts, even if we don’t agree on the more subjective side of things. Because yeah, there’s always going to be people who just carry water for their “side” regardless of the facts, but i feel like a lot of the middle ground is getting pulled to the extremes by the narrative that nothing can be trusted.
my instance updated to the version 0.19 and it brock the app it shows you as loged in but you can’t post (shows a 401 error) filters and block lists are empty and every post is saved when you open the app edit: login out and back in fixed thanks
I don’t think this will be an issue with the regulars, but because I’m paranoid about some random users coming in, it’s okay to be gay or transgender or whatever you identify as. Saying otherwise is bigotry, rule 1.
I am a big fan of Tesla. The cars are amazing. Generally I respect Elon, who has a track record of success. I support unions but I would never join one....
This is why over on the other conservative community, I explicitly made the rules a vibe check rather than a hard and fast law. The rules there are about the spirt of them, not the exact letter of what I put in the sidebar one night. If someone’s acting like a cunt by trying to skirt around the exact phrasing of what I wrote, it’s fully made clear they don’t get a pass.
Yeah. Clear cut rules always seem nice, up until you actually have to deal with them, and you realize there’s a reason that we hire professional lawyers and judges to maintain the irl justice system, and not volunteer mods. Online forums are ultimately trivial enough that enforcement not always being perfect is, in my opinion, a fine tradeoff since the most that’s at stake is an easily replaceable account.
Of course, run your community how you like. The good part about federated social media is that it inherently promotes competition and co-existing rather than a rabbit scramble for ideal community names, where whatever schlub who names it first has the community for good.
Due to some confusion, the /Conservative mod team have decided to clarify rule 2. The actions taken will remain the same, this is a rewrite to hopefully clarify what rule 2 is, and what /Conservative is....
Arguably, you’ve created the problem by being too specific. And it’s your community to run, not mine, so take whatever I say in whatever fashion you prefer, but this is inevitably the end result of trying to make the rules as specific as possible: you get people who just try to work around the exact wording you chose. Fix one loophole, and they’ll find another.
while i can see good intent behind this, it definitely seems like a significant overreach, and not particularly helpful for actually solving real issues.
You’ve intentionally go a through and provided a series of strawman arguments about basically every topic touched. Nothing you said even remotely reflects what people on the right actually believe regarding any of those subjects.
Would it be possible to make the community links clickable in boost?
It’s great that the app handles the regular urls natively, better so than browsing on the default website, but could we get support for the community links....
Is it possible to browse the home page of a different server?
For example can I browse the Lemmy.ml “all” from lemmy.world account?

Where can I view hidden posts, and is it possible to not hide posts when reporting?
Basically the title. I don’t like that posts are hidden when I report them, since I can’t find them back afterwards.
