A couple of love letters from last night’s audience as we head into :

“Dear San Francisco, people may say what they will about the city, but in my mind you are still the sparkling city of the world. I love that I find my Chinese identity in Chinatown, my queer identity in the Castro, and still have time for Ocean Beach. But most of all I remember, every March, protest blockade, poster, and speech or song I have been a part of here.

“On the day we arrived in SF in 1981 we went to dinner at Zuni Cafe. A totally naked streaker ran by wearing only red tennis shoes. My partner turned to me with a look and said ‘I guess we aren’t in Kansas anymore.’ 40+ years later we are still here. You are still not Kansas. With love, The Lesbians in the front row.”

I am so happy and lucky to have grown up here! You are funky, vibrant, and beautiful. Is your public school district system too hard to teach in? Yes. Are your rent prices too high? Yes. Would I love anywhere else? No! Thanks for being the most amazing and wonderful place.”
