Homeownership is still cheaper. Every cent that goes towards rent you’ll never see again. At least at the end of your mortgage you have something you can sell to recoup most of what you spent. Or rent it out.
While although taxes can go up your mortgage never will. Your rent will.
My mortgage is $1700. If I were renting this place it would easily be going for $2400 if not more.
I think it’s our survival instinct to hoard. I don’t think we’ve evolved to live in such a massive civilization. We weren’t meant to live this way.
I do think this level of equality would exist in older times if they knew they could get away with it.
However the scale at which we live (the global economy) is so much larger that it’s easier for them to extract and hoard wealth. In older times our communities were much smaller. The consequences for fucking around were a lot higher because it was easier for the poors to hold them accountable.
I don’t buy this. Companies like the cloud because they know their data is going to computers that they don’t have to manage.
On premise means they need to manage the hardware. It means they need a staff on hand to maintain the hardware. They have to deal with all of those issues them selves.
I am in tech consulting and I’ve never met a customer that didn’t understand what cloud actually is.
Even my boomer relatives know this and they know jack shit about the tech world.
Why’s that? People grow a lot with maturity and knowing what they actually want out of life between 25-40.
Of course this process never really stops but between those ages you’re going through a lot of transitions and new experiences. You’re still doing a lot growing up during that period.
It’s not unfair to say that marrying young is a bad idea because you don’t really know who you are yet and there is a lot of opportunity to grow away from your spouse.
By the time you’re much older a lot of this is out of the way. You’re lot further into your career and in a more stable place.
Anyway just my experiences but I don’t think marrying young is a great idea. I’m in my late 30s and I feel like a completely different person compared to my early 20s.
Statements like this make me believe a lot of people have kids because it’s some item they can check off their list to live up to what society expects from you. Why even have kids if that’s your mentality?
Considering how many Boeing aircraft are out there operating every day and how very little we hear about issues I am not sure this is an effective example.
