I had been waiting for a really long time for that video by the Linux Experiment (really good Linux youtuber) which is also available there: tilvids.com/w/bLPmGvqHd69ANdPdhRZXWV ....
clean install: you make a backup, nuke the computer, install a fresh upgraded copy of the distro you want from a live usb, copy your data again to the computer....
I upgrade Fedora from one version to another as doing a clean install would be a lot of work. Maybe I’m just too much of a rookie, but I don’t see the advantages of a clean install.
Even if I installed Fedora on a new computer, I’d just use my clonezilla backup if possible. But I haven’t tried it so I don’t know if this would work.

I guess I really wasn’t into the game as I wasn’t emotionally involved at all. Not like in Last of Us 2 when Abby and Ellie are fighting. I was feeling their pain and anger and was really destabilized as if two of my close friends were fighting.
My favourite DE has got to be Cinnamon, as much as I like KDE and XFCE, I prefer the simplicity of cinnamon where as in KDE has a bit too much of everything in the customization scene and XFCE I find a little tricky to get tiling working right....
Thanks for the really good and helpful explanation!
To be honest it’s often difficult to understand every Linux subtilities, but the community is really great and compensate the lack of information you’re getting inside your distribution.
Thanks for the answer. But then it means that people get a distro with a DE and install a WM on top of it? Or do you have distros coming with just a WM? What’s the advantage of a WM compared to a DE?
From what I’m seeing on the /e/os website and their list of compatible devices (doc.e.foundation/devices), a lot if phones would get « safetynet »(even if I don’t really know what it means).
Oh is it? It’s one of the cheapest second hand phones I’ve been investigating.
That’s something I don’t understand and would need someone to explain. How can it become end of life on an alternative OS? It’s as if someone was telling me my computer was too old (not not powerful enough) to run Linux.
But why is it riskier to have an end of life phone? As far as I know, my girlfriend MacBook Pro from 2012 was end of life for macOS (not receiving updates) and I installed Linux on it and it doesn’t seem more at risk than my newer Surface Go with Linux too. Is it different for phones?
