Thanks for your hard work and commitment. I was a 10 year user on Reddit and now I am dipping my feet here. Thing is reddit I was always a lurker and here I feel like I can post and it means something. The good will and actual content in the conversations are a breath of fresh air. Thanks everyone for being so welcoming.
The MPAA really is grasping for straws aren’t they. Ever since people were able to stream movies during the pandemic and found it was a much cheaper more enjoyable experience, they have been trying to invent ways to drive people back to the theaters. Now they are suffering major block buster busts and they have to point the finger at someone so they think, “it’s those darn Reddit pirates!” Its funny that they don’t realize they caused their own demise. But really I wonder, why specifically 2011?
I'm currently reading the Wool omnibus by Hugh Howey. It's pretty decent I've been making very rapid progress as it's been too hot to sleep here recently now the summer has arrived....
Relay for Reddit did something I really loved. They had a hide all read or seen posts button that simply removed them from your current list. Didn't affect visibility if you refreshed the list, posts would reappear.
We’ll give the upgrade new try tomorrow. I’ve had some good input from admins of other instances, which are also gonna help troubleshoot during/after the upgrade....
Good luck. This is my favorite instance so I will be eagerly awaiting. Lemmy has been incredible and strangely what I needed. I would doom scroll reddit and see the same posts and the same comment chains and just redundancy hell.
Lemmy feels so different and the community is so welcoming. Thanks again everyone for making this lost Redditor a found lemming (is that the correct term lol).
Hello, since yesterday I was trying to join new communities but the status is "pending", always. No luck today. Anyone knows if it is my problem or something doesn't work? Communities I'm trying to join are quite populated so I found it strange. Thanks
A year and a half ago, selling a video card on eBay was basically the same as paying someone to punch you in the face. It was as likely you’d get an INAD and eat the loss as anything else. So when I had one to sell, I sold it on FB Marketplace, and meeting in person for that much money didn’t feel a lot less sketchy but at...
I actually feel like posting and not lurking. It's incredible. Was at Reddit for 10 years and just watched it nose dive. Happy to call the fediverse my home.

Wanted my first lemmy post to be a silly star wars meme :D...
You can only drink one drink for the rest of your life, but it cannot be water. What do you pick?
And no "water with a twist of lemon/slice of cucumber" goofs. Water isn't allowed.
