I’d like to see some kind of chart that compares Republican lawmakers who have voted against women/trans/gay rights, and subsequently been caught in controversy around sex with that specific group (anti-gay gets caught with a guy) VERSUS how many registered Democrat lawmakers in the same scenario.(anti-gay legislation, caught with dude type deal)
He got old enough not to care too much about appearances, and important enough that he didn’t have to dress-to-impress a boss, and started wearing what every dude really wants to wear.
(As a baseline rule) Stop fucking around with open license for DnD and (as a recommendation) make mlp/transformers great again and maybe your stock won’t slump. It’s not hard math. Hasbro keeps fucking with the dnd licence, their shows aren’t doing well, and they haven’t made a nerf blaster worth picking up in a hot minute (ultra didn’t do well).
They’ve kind of just lost their way it seems. Most of their toy lines rely on a cartoon to sell well (transformers) and that’s just not happening.board games are all classics but I can see those not selling well right now. They hold a lot of old IPs of yesteryear (trolls, jurrasic park, beyblade) , so what I see as a way forward is to start trying to tap nostalgia to hit the collectors market. Otherwise these IPs are dead in the water as they try to make the 15th beyblade show to try and make tops happen again - except for cheaper than ever before at the expense of quality.
I really like how far third party nerf blasters have come (worker, monkey mods XYL etc.) and really want to get into it, but I’m too old to play with kids and there’s no adult community here that would pick it up (as opposed to airsoft or paintball).
So I’m left with a nice ass blaster I spent $130 assembling, and can only plink around a small apartment with it
Your area doesn’t have a 40k community? That IS surprising and sucks to hear. Here’s hoping one springs up at a game store and you can warrggggh to your hearts content.
I never used Twitter. Reddit was the only social media I engaged/posted on for years, moved to Lemmy a couple months ago. I made an account on Mastodon, downloaded moshidon, followed a bunch of hashtags, now I don’t know what to do. Do I just start posting “Facebook status” type posts? Is Mastodon basically like individual...
As a fresh-ish lemmite. It depends on what YOU are looking for out of it. A good example is “do I want to drive engagement for the sole reason of growing communities” in which case you just post to those communities. Leave softball comments on conversations. Easy stuff to prompt a followup comment “how does that work” “why does it work like that” even if you don’t care, because it prompts a followup-comment. Posts that are easy like “today I learned X thing” even though you didn’t, but if it’s super popular and a lot of people knew about it, it drives big comment chains. This type of person is in every single comment section at least once. You see their names as OPs constantly. High post engagement rate (more engaging vs just clicking on the post then off the post) promotes things to the front page. Or at least higher than the bottom.
If you’re looking for “honest” engagement then it’s going to be more like “how often is my comment a worthwhile contribution?” In these instances it’s follow-ups asking why X does a thing. Or answering someone else’s question. You see this person rarely, and their comments are paragraphs. They could be right or wrong but they often appear to know what they’re talking about. These people hang out in political subs (and other high controversy places) and drive conversation. Either they pick a side and defend it or are informing others how a system works.
Lastly is 2 opposite types. The ever-commenter who has 2k comments and no posts. They engage with EVERYONE as one of the above 2 types, even if it means they get downvoted or upvoted. This person will have a comment chain 35 comments long if people keep hitting Reply. Their counterpart is the ever-poster. They’ve got 2k posts and when you scroll they just the same post to 8 subs. Article about kid died in israel? They posted it in an Israel and Palestine sub, worldnews, news, a local news sub, politics, world politics, us politics, international politics, and noncredible defense. They post the same news article to every sub they can find. They rinse and repeat for each news article. This type of person rarely comments. These 2 people are the same but opposite sides of the spectrum.
Mathematically, I can see how it would always turn into a risk-reward analysis showing nuking the enemy first is always a winning move that provides safety and security for your new empire.

No, but a popular internet theory has his name meaning “spotted one” and whether or not it’s actually entomologically true, is always a fun thought. To think a god of the underworld played fetch with spot, the goodest multi-headed boi
My toothbrush is made of wood, and the bristles kind of just stick in it. I don’t think it contributed to any ddos attacks, but I could be wrong in this day and age.
It makes total sense. Both companies existing in a pseudo-merger makes a lot of advantage sense. Disney gets to keep its image clean of the anti-consumer practices of epic these past few years, while epic sharks its way around Steam and corners small devs, bullying them into exclusivity. (Were they bought out, “Disney subsidiary” might be a dirty word)
Epic gets to make games-as-services with ever more integration, with fortnite, league, and car soccer. This begins also the availability of Disney exclusive GAAS, but also with tie ins to epic titles.
In return Disney gets, for no effort, access to the market American companies can not tread - China. Tencent comes with Chinese party seal of approval built in. Marketing into the country nets Disney the market saturation and brand recognition they’ve been wanting in a new audience, and all they’d have to do is have epic make a game and sell it with their IP. Disney doesn’t have to ask the cccp for marketing permission because it’s a Chinese company product trying to make Chinese people sales.
The whole thing is so…dystopia that it just fits so well with the Disney that Walt built, and expanded as a cutthroat businessman.
I know this one! It was mentioned specifically as Port Arthur, a contention of the russo-japanese war, at the turn of the 1900s. Specifically would call your attention to the part where they lost their main fleet, and called upon the Baltic Fleet (yes hoho THAT baltic) that made a trip around Africa in what became known as the Voyage of the Damned for all of the absolute chicanery and Lethal stupidity that took place on that nearly 9 month trip that culminated in catastrophic losses for the russians, and is one of the major pressures on Tzar Nicholas II to get involved in ww1.
Anyway that’s one of the parts of the story as of how we’re all in this fucking mess.
