Previous posts are available on both Bluesky and Twitter at HeathcliffNull. Twitter goes back slightly further. Edits are also available on Facebook at NightTime Garbage Ape Ft. Heathcliff And The Catillac Cats Corner is Lit and I just recently started making them public on my own Facebook profile at Piller Gregerson.
Heathcliff without Heathcliff wasn’t inspired by Garfield but I know it seems that way. A friend was posting its Heathcliff each day and I was confounded by the impenetrableness for months. But after I started figuring it out I noticed that Heathcliff was almost completely irrelevant to most of the strips and started removing him to see how often they still worked as designed.
But since G-G already existed there is no way to remove the idea that one caused the other in most minds. I didn’t really care for G-G because I really never cared for Garfield in the first place.
The fire breathing Chihuahua is a recurring type of hazard in Westfinster. You’d think the dog catcher would know that standard nets are useless against it. But he tries anyway.
That was my third thought as well. That’s a lot of people to band together and make Tesla’s number one asset a viable stand alone company. Even if Musk doesn’t want that.
There was a lot going on in this one and I’m not even sure I understood it before or after the edit. Obviously Jimmy should be eating Sol. Which would be a bad end to the show. No repeat performances. Is this the rest no one gets Jimmy? He is a horrible boss? But who is Sol? Why are they named after the Latin name for sun? Is it relevant that the bunny is also speaking Espanol is the fly coming out of the hat the same as “the son” coming out of the cave? Is this related to the Star Trek episode Bread and Circuses where there is a play on sun and son? I couldn’t find any references to Sol being in a Heathcliff comic before. What happened to the regular magician The Amazing Randy, not to be confused with one of my life changing heros The Amazing Randi. This is the second time in weeks that a character directly addressed Heathcliff when they both weren’t on garbage cans. If no one gets Jimmy why is there someone other than Heathcliff in the audience?
Judging from the number of hot air balloons he owns and his ability to afford all the meat and bubble gum that he wants so I have to assume he is independently wealthy.
I hope for his own mental health that he never joins Lemmy. If I had had more time I would have redrawn this entire scene in the style of a Heathcliff comic. But I gave myself only 15 minutes to do this and that would have taken a day and a half. Because I am very slow when drawing on my phone. I may revisit this idea later in the future.
There is a Facebook group that I know he’s part of and he’s on Twitter. I’ll go a month at a time without seeing anything from him and then I get flooded with reactions to these edits. And somehow they’re always positive. I dread the day that he actually comments on one of them.
If I were him I would have blocked me even if I liked what was happening because it would taint the way I’m creating the comics because of the observer effect.
It’s nice looking and will work for putting solids into. But I’d be afraid that if any liquid was put in a red oak bowl that it would eventually become a sieve.
