Oh man, these kitties’ whiskers are just luxurious.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Correct.

Didn’t the state basically re-elect everyone who oversaw that shit show?

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

It’s almost scary to think of how bad it would have to get in order for voters to tick the boxes for Greens or Libertarians.

Like, how badly do these fuckers have to fail before you’re willing to shed your partisan jersey and vote to your own benefit?

Partisanship is a hell of a drug.

It should also be pointed out that modern protest movements aren’t particularly tactical. In fact, these people largely suck at it.

You all know how much this country hates homeless and homeless-adjacent people, and yet, you opt to camp out in public areas anyway.

Here’s a darn good article on why your protests fail: www.americanpurpose.com/…/caring-isnt-enough/

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Yup.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

It’s frankly anti protest propaganda and so are you.

It’s actually quite analytical, and gives you several examples as to why prior protest movements were successful. It suggests that maybe modern movements could learn a few lessons if they read their history books.

But you probably didn’t read it anyway.

there are a lot of people committing the same sin as the right, which is attaching to the progressive cause for the performative expression and storyline narrative only

Nailed it.

Netflix Windows app is set to remove its downloads feature, while introducing ads (www.techradar.com)

Netflix has managed to annoy a good number of its users with an announcement about an upcoming update to its Windows 11 (and Windows 10) app: support for adverts and live events will be added, but the ability to download content is being taken away....

Sailing the high seas works just fine.

“The purpose is not solely religious,” Sen. Jay Morris, R-West Monroe, told the Senate. Rather, it is the Ten Commandments’ "historical significance, which is simply one of many documents that display the history of our country and foundation of our legal system.”

Only two of them are actually law: Thou shalt not murder and thou shalt not steal.

This is all about religion, and they’re going to get away with it. We’d be better off if our legal codes were based on the seven tenets instead.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

That only applies to the Old Testament passages that forbid usury, of course.

I went through 18 years of being forced to go to church and never learned the word.

Methinks that was purposeful.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

All the time, and especially for cops. (It’s called ‘qualified immunity’ and ‘civil forfeiture’ instead of murdering and stealing, but it’s the same thing.)

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Wow.

Dude had the Hitler mustache toward the end. Bold choice.

The US (well, at least our legislators) are getting paid a lot of money to look the other way, and couldn’t care less how children are affected.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

That requires one to acknowledge there’s a problem and then summon the will to change it, which isn’t a hallmark of radicalism.

FlashMobOfOne,
@FlashMobOfOne@lemmy.world avatar

Hard downvote.

This is an institutional problem, not an individual one.

FB markets its platform as safe and respectful of security, but it’s exactly the opposite on both fronts and that is a proven fact. It’s deliberately addictive, has led to widespread radicalization and mental illness in its users, and steals people’s personal information.

It’s the digital equivalent of marketing cigarettes to kids, only more harmful.

FB absolutely needs to be investigated and held accountable.

Proportion distortions aside, it’s pretty accurate.

This joke made me snort my coffee. Please accept my humble upvote.

That’s valid.

Same, except I am a legal tech and professional artist.

I love that I can make my money in a dark, air-conditioned room and just read about all the cool shit we’re learning about dinosaurs.

Court of Owls

I second this rec. It was a fantastic storyline.

Tacking on here after X-Men were mentioned:

The adjectiveless X-Men of the early 90’s was a great volume, beginning with a stellar run sketched by Jim Lee.
