In a well-intentioned yet dangerous move to fight online fraud, France is on the verge of forcing browsers to create a dystopian technical capability. Article 6 (para II and III) of the SREN Bill would force browser providers to create the means to mandatorily block websites present on a government provided list....
That’s exactly the reason I did it. My main bank is still a local credit union but I moved my savings over because a. the high apy and b. Goldman Sachs is reputable. I haven’t had to try it yet but I’m sure I can recover my funds without my i-phone if needed.
It’s crazy the amount of disinformation going on around this. The day the deal was announced I asked my buddy in the industry about it. He, right away, told me all the part timers are MAD and explained everything. I’ve tried to pass this info to the USW guys in my shop as to why/how this deal is so bad and they don’t believe me. My guys are going into contract negotiations soon here and if they think this was a good deal I’m worried they are going to get shafted again :/
Players usually want a good story in their games. I can enjoy a good story too, but sometimes I just want to get going and do stuff without listening to several minutes of dialog in-between action....
Man, I understand the reasoning here but we need to do more to protect victims. Some of these stalkers are beyond reason. In their minds they are trying to “rescue” the victim. I don’t know what the right answer is :/
Like, i get where the majority opinion is coming from. It seems they’re worried about, for example, a kid in minecraft saying “I’m gonna get you” 50 times vs someone on Facebook messaging a person like that.
I’m curious what you think a solution would look like because I’m at a loss. We already don’t do enough for victims of stalking and this ruling won’t help anything. Maybe an overhaul on how we process and accept restraining orders?
Hmm. This makes too much sense to me for me to be mad. Discord can easily compete with patreon the way I see it. Obviously, they could fuck it up and ruin the whole platform but if their team has more than a few brain cells it should work out fine right?
