Three years ago, we published 'Strangest of All' at the European Astrobiology Institute - an anthology of eight reprint science fiction stories connected by the theme of astrobiology, each followed by a short science essay by myself.

We released it as a free e-book, hoping to help people learn more and have fun while in quarantine. Since then, it was downloaded thousands of times, used in an astrobiology seminar, and it inspired us to continue this scicomm direction!

When I picked an interesting sub-Neptune paper for my news report in AGU's Eos magazine, I unknowingly sniffed out a trend.

Within weeks, another related paper appeared.
Then an intriguing arxiv preprint.
Then another paper, in Nature no less.

What picture do they form together?
