I don't think a cassette recorder belt is supposed to look like that...

There is absolutely no good reason to be able to run a screen saver directly from the Windows Explorer. Especially since Windows hides file extensions by default, this is only ever used as a method to infect your PC with malware. This is a security flaw that Microsoft should've fixed over 25 years ago! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_tlhOBysXOE

@vwestlife Ease of session hijacking is the real problem here: browser session cookies created on the victim’s machine were easily copied to the attacker’s machine to appear logged in to the victim’s account. How is it that sessions cookies are not keyed and/or encrypted for use only on the device that created them? Even if the user is tricked into running a malicious attachment to get a copy of the cookies, the person on the other end shouldn’t be able to use them.

I'm debating whether to make a real thumbnail for this video, or just keep the one YouTube chose for it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bj9amtYrwv0

@vwestlife The thumbnail is fine; come to think of it, I haven't watched GoatHerderEd's channel in a while. I can't remember the model number of the Zenith XT clone I had; 10 MB hard drive that was physically huge, extending down below its half-height face plate, a green monochrome monitor connected to composite and color monitor connected to the CGA output; I preferred the green mono for text work.

Books you don't expect to appear in this type of film. The filmmaker said they were found discarded on a nearby stoop.

@vwestlife Interesting how the Netscape and CompuServe books are larger than the OS/2 Warp book, even though much more technical information could be written about OS/2.

Every keyboard needs to have a "Don't Care" key.

@vwestlife I had a Samsung DVD-R145 recorder that had an "Anykey" -- apparently not so you could "Press Any Key to Continue" but instead to bring up a submenu for various playback options. Still, a rather strange name for the key.

What's your type?

@vwestlife A #1 open-reel-to-reel 4-track stereo, 7-1/2" per second if recording vinyl music, 3-3/4" per second fine for recording music from FM. My Sony TC-353D was a good friend until I moved and downsized. These days everything is WAV, AAC or MP3.
