I just steal my favorite memes from other platforms and share them with you guys.

You know, kindling to keep the Lemmy fire burning warmer.

Also, I love uncomplicated, basic stuff in life; like schnitzel, coffee and masturbation.

Every year I see this shit and without fail, I chuckle every time for the past 15 years.

It’s so you can set a reminder.

To most of us it’s about the time passing and the innocent never lasting (which I always assumed is a similar idea to “why do the good people always go first”.).

That being said, if we stop joking about serious matters and just take everything seriously - whether it’s intended like that or not - we’re fucked.

What do they mean by “too extreme”? Too left?

In rural areas of Europe, especially back in the day, kids were expected to pick up chores for the household. Clean, go walk the cattle, etc. It’s why big families thrived - everyone had to do their bit. The paying rent could be seen as a modern version of that. But working alongside your family to care for each other would have a meaningful and positive vibe, while the rent thing comes off as alienating and cold.

Mine just really didn’t have any business being together. They were not too political about it after.

But I’m sorry to hear.

Mine either but at least they’re not trying to politicize it with me, so at least there’s that.

Agreed! Did all 3 of us well, the breakup.

“nobody:” indicates that in the kid’s perception, the split up was out of the blue. The “nobody:” formulation indicates a moment of initial silence, or of everything being fine. The contrast of initial silence/everything seeming ok, and a dramatic break up of one’s parents adds an extra layer of drama and comedy to the situation. It serves a purpose.
