Take the route California is taking and educate the kids about worker’s rights. Teach them it’s not okay to be exploited at the work place and encourage them to tell their parents about it. Civics classes should also be taught to learn how the government works and what people’s rights are under the Constitution. Encourage people to unionize now that they know how the system works.
Once the basics have been taught, elect people who care about government reform for social policies by paying for them with higher corporate and personal wealth taxes. Reform the tax system the wealthy have been using to hide their money. All their money is tied up in stocks and they’re living off of multimillion dollar loans? Fuck them, tax a big percentage of the loan. All these things can be done to indirectly seize the fruits of their production at least.

The difference between European countries and America is becoming so stark. Anyone reading or watching global news has to see how backwards this country is and that it’s only getting worse.
I have evidence to the contrary. The Revolution had 16 reasonable demands including a reelection of the current government heads, the right for workers to strike, and the freedom of speech. The fact the USSR sent tanks to squash demands for freedom of speech definitely foreshadowed the tactics China would use in the Tiananmen Massacre.
Just got banned from Hexbear for saying something negative about China and the US at the same time. They have no tolerance of any discussion that challenges their preconceptions.
I’m rude to debt collectors who call me trying to collect debts from people who happen to once have had the same phone number as I once did. Like, I’m not who you’re trying to collect from, fuck off....
Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and generally anyone who wants to convert me to their fucked up religion when they knock on my door. Why should I be civil when they bother me at my house on my time off to dictate what I should believe in? If I’m interested I’d go to them and not the other way around.

I love public rail and took it all over the place when I visited Japan, I even still have the JR Pass ticket in my wallet. If I had one public transportation wish for LA it’s that every freeway have a light rail line like in the 105. As for the homeless situation I am all in for fully funded housing first initiatives and think we haven’t done anywhere near enough for them. That said, the unfortunate state of events between the LA Metro and the city’s homeless allows for some very problematic things to happen in light rail train cars especially during transit. I’ve seen quite a bit of drug use, littering, and even an instance when I had a taser brandished at my face only to find out a second later the guy was trying to sell it to me. I really wish people wouldn’t react so quickly to a post and start accusing them of being some kind of monster.
Thank you for being a voice of reason MooPoo. I apologize if my original comment came off as callous and insensitive. I heavily sympathize with the plight of the homeless and my only problem is with those who can be a danger to themselves or others, especially in an enclosed area like a train. TBH I sympathize with ideologies that are beyond left of the American Overton window since I’m quite familiar with what Western countries have done to suppress them. Thanks for pointing out how they were the ones being reactionary without so much as giving a warning before the ban.
Nakoichi, I don’t expect you to unban me from your community but I hope we can at least understand each other enough to not see us as enemies.
My run-in with the Hexbear Urbanism community kind of felt like a weird version of one of those subreddits run by conservatives. They’re very ban happy if you say the wrong thing like complain about how bad train systems can be in certain cities.
To rub it in there’s all that free parking and just one parked car. I wonder where the hell are employees park their cars to leave all that space for customers.
It’s a good show though I really wish they went back to 26 episode seasons. Sure they won’t all be hits but there’s something to be said about stories that feature more of the supporting cast that fleshes out the world a little more.
About 8 months ago I got pretty tired of seeing billionaire spam online. I could not bear to read about yet another rich guy who launched themselves (or their $200,000 car) into outer space 🚀 . I did not care about their expert opinion on the latest meme coin back then. I do not care about their expert opinion on the dangers...
Please don’t do this! Rich people love living in obscurity, it keeps attention and anger from their stupid decisions away from them and on to some scapegoat. This is like the opposite of the Streisand Effect and will only serve their interests. I know it’s annoying to keep seeing the same billionaires in the headlines but the alternative is to be passive about their awful projects and the harm they’re doing to the world. You’ll only be doing them a favor with this addon.
