Someonelol,

These prank channels should be completely demonetized to remove the incentive of doing stupid shit like this in the first place.

Someonelol,

That’s a long drive. I’ll have to put on an audiobook.

Someonelol,

Same in Mexico though in El Salvador it’s referred to beating someone up if spoken as a verb. I got really confused when a Salvadorean guy was telling me he fucked another guy only to find out it was actually in the context of a fight.

Someonelol,

This. They believe in a lot of the things we do but don’t want to believe their heroes are fucking monsters. Their unwavering support of the trans and gay communities is great, but Marx help you if you bring up the USSR and CCP didn’t take kindly to them. They could be allies to other leftists but end up being insufferable.

Someonelol,

I wouldn’t mind if they passed the savings on to the consumer… But they won’t.

Someonelol,

Easiest way to address this is to wear a metal Casio watch and have it touch anything metallic attached to a wall like door latch guides or maybe even coat hangers to dissipate any static electricity. Another choice is to grab the metal part of a key and tap them as well.

Someonelol,

Someone who’s already cheating on a partner of their own. The relationship is likely to be a self fulfilling prophecy.

Someonelol,

At least in my case that kind of setup is a somewhat isolated train line with few interconnects with stations that end up too far away from places of interest to the common rider.

Someonelol,

You can even tell who they are if they have a gender pronoun tag next to their username. I get it might be helpful in casual conversation with these folk but the format of conversations here don’t give too many chances for them to be used.

Someonelol,

I have evidence to the contrary. The Revolution had 16 reasonable demands including a reelection of the current government heads, the right for workers to strike, and the freedom of speech. The fact the USSR sent tanks to squash demands for freedom of speech definitely foreshadowed the tactics China would use in the Tiananmen Massacre.

Someonelol,

Well whenever regular people go in to their communities they get ridiculed and have their comments removed or even banned, so what’s the difference?

Someonelol,

Okay I’ll bite for the sake of conversation. How is it more complicated than an ex-KGB authoritarian wanting to take over the country next door?

Someonelol,

Last I checked the “tankies” signed a non-aggression pact with the Nazis and only became a reluctant ally because they were betrayed.

Someonelol,

I can’t read the first link as it’s behind a paywall. The second link talked about how Roosevelt tried to establish cordial relations with the Soviet Union but was hampered by their refusal to acknowledge debts owed by the Tsarist government, refusal to stop spreading propaganda within the US, and the killing of Leningrad Communist party boss Sergey Kirov which " launched the first of the “Great Purges” that led to the death or imprisonment of millions of Soviet citizens as the Stalinist regime liquidated any potential critics of the government. The wide scope and public nature of the purges horrified both American diplomatic personnel stationed in the Soviet Union, and the world at large."

Gee I wonder why the USSR had such a tough go at getting allies…

Someonelol,

Careful where you speak such truths friend, the Pronoun Patrol would’ve thrown you to the gulags if it was in their instance.

Someonelol,

Just got banned from Hexbear for saying something negative about China and the US at the same time. They have no tolerance of any discussion that challenges their preconceptions.

Someonelol,

Pancho Villa attacked US border towns in 1916 which prompted general John J Pershing to launch an unsuccessful expeditionary force to capture or kill him. The Mexican American War happened in 1846 to 1848 which was before his time. I think you might be referring to the Mexican Border War that was part of the bigger Mexican Revolution going on at the time. Either way I doubt Mexico would allow another military incursion from the north this time around.

Someonelol,

Mexico encouraged Americans to move into Texas as means to populate and develop the area so long as the settlers agreed to assimilate to Mexican culture. Unfortunately the settlers weren’t loyal to the Mexican government and started a revolt for independence when Mexico outlawed slavery in 1829. Thanks to the fumblings of general Santa Anna, the rebels captured him and had him sign the Treaties of Velasco in 1836 essentially conceding all land above the Rio Grande to the rebels in exchange for his life.

This of course infuriated the central Mexican government and they refused to ratify the treaties. Due to internal instability though the central government was unable to do much about it and had no choice but to leave the matter alone. It was only after Texas was admitted to the US as a slave state did president James K Polk start a fight with Mexico over the territory that eventually led to Mexico’s defeat and loss of all other land that make up the states you’re referring to.

Even though all Mexican citizens who ended up in the new American borders were invited to stay as American citizens, some were systematically deported over the years well into the early 20th century.

Someonelol,

Mormons, Jehovah’s Witnesses, and generally anyone who wants to convert me to their fucked up religion when they knock on my door. Why should I be civil when they bother me at my house on my time off to dictate what I should believe in? If I’m interested I’d go to them and not the other way around.

Someonelol,

I’ve done that actually. It’s only been 2 months since that encounter but here’s hoping.

Someonelol,

Which country? Europe has a pretty large spectrum of policies depending where you live. On average though I’d say your standards of living are still better than what the average American would enjoy.

Someonelol,

As bad as this sounds it’s best to keep limited assistance to Ukraine if it can be helped. How would it look like to an increasingly unhinged Putin, dictator with a nuclear capable ICBM system, when the army of a country they invaded are rolling down the road to Moscow with highly advanced American equipment? There are two positive ways to end the war:

  1. Ukraine invades Moscow with limited western support giving him less of a justification to send retaliatory missile strikes all over the world.
  2. Things look so bleak even to the most financially comfortable Russian citizen that his own people turn on him and manage a successful coup before he can escalate things any further.
Someonelol,

I just see a pic of the bad orange man. What’s the difference?
