About time!! Been waiting for this for so long. This will definitely make the usability of Signal better and it’ll also be more accessible to people who wanted a Telegram like way to talk to other folks. Requiring a number to still register isn’t a bad thing in my eyes though sometimes it can be frustrating so I hope that there’s an option to create an account without a number. Maybe the account will have finite time before it’s auto-deleted if you don’t input a number some time later to ensure that this option isn’t abused to all hell by bots and malicious actors alike.

That sucks and is quite unfortunate, would’ve been cool to have another option other than signing up with your phone number but I suppose it’s alright

SOAD, Mudvayne and Static-X

Imagine a show where all 3 bands play new material, Static-X has already released some new stuff but SOAD (excluding those two single in 2020) and Mudvayane have yet to do so

It’d be an amazing show for all I know!

Btw Internet Freedom Foundation (or the IFF) filed several RTI requests (RTI = Request to information) regarding this situation. If anyone wants to follow their progress then here’s their Mastodon account: mastodon.world/@internetfreedom

The IFF is a highly trustworthy and well respected organization that fights for Indians digital rights and democratic freedoms. They’ve done a lot of good work over the years, they even helped VLC to get unblocked when it was banned in India.

Actions have been taken against the scam industry, the offices have been raided by police officers several times but once again the collective action is too little and too late

Stewbs,
@Stewbs@lemmy.world avatar

They will target anyone they can get sadly, Indians are not exempted from this and are often times, the primary targets

Stewbs,

Wish our government officials had a basic understanding of tech so they could see this and go “the fuck are we doing?”

Stewbs,
@Stewbs@lemmy.world avatar

If it gets blocked then no but you can continue using it either through a VPN, a proxy server or through Tor. You could also use a different DNS to unblock the website for yourself (Incase it gets blocked)

Wait till they ban staring cause it’s intimidating!

Stewbs,
@Stewbs@lemmy.world avatar

Yep, that’s sadly true

While it’s true that voting for a purely retaliatory reason would be good but wouldn’t you want your vote to have some amount of change? I’m not discrediting the integrity of the smaller parties but it really won’t make much of a difference to vote for them even if it is towards a good cause simply because their size is too small to compete with the giants or even in state elections. Andhbhakts are everywhere unfortunately.

@Stewbs@lemmy.world avatar

nah that thought crossed my mind too, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was for that reason tbh
