a place where I agree with and heartily endorse your assessment that he is dickhead, I wonder if what he was trying to say was that the early crowd was homogenous or like-minded and it was only when other people joined that they asked for moderation tools? That makes slightly more sense to me but it doesn’t change my opinion of him at all.
