Tessellation shaders are hard. There's barely any resources out there compared to everything else so I'm basically guessing what everything's supposed to look like
Had a silly error where I hadn't set the number of control points per patch correctly so I was getting extra copies of this triangle that didn't render properly.
Vulkan is interesting like that because it's deceptively error resistant: it'll not work in a way that doesn't immediately crash your GPU so you gotta dig around a lot for whatever's out of place. When you find it, you'll feel like it's the biggest eureka moment of your life because everything that seemed just a little bit funky will all fall into place at once.
