More comfortable.

Cheaper.

Higher resolution.

No idiots hooting and hollering and shooting up the screen.

Pause.

Subtitles.

Gee, I wonder why.

Whirlybird,

One of the employees punched him in the face

Just for context - this is what his side of the story is, it’s not “fact” yet.

Whirlybird,

Your believe in a different sky person than they do.

Whirlybird,

All that needs to be asked of them is “are you willing to pay the court costs associated with Nintendo taking you to court, and then the millions of dollars to Nintendo if you lose?”. If not then they shouldn’t even touch it, because Nintendo will come after them.

Whirlybird,

if there are no grounds for a case on intellectual property infringement, one of which is “non-profit”.

These guys have said right from the get go that they’re trying to profit off it though. Whoopsies.

Also the fact that its the exact same code that Yuzu ran, which just settled with nintendo for millions of dollars, is going to influence any future cases.

but at that point the courts might decide either way and litigation costs money.

Yeah so like I said - they have to be prepared to fight nintendo or just shut it down almost immediately.

Whirlybird,

at no extra wholesale cost to retailers.

And at no extra cost to customers, right? Right?

Private Internet Access. Been using it for probably 10 years at this point, never had a single issue. Their “no logging” claim has been tested successfully in court.

Whirlybird,

They’re not an authority though. They might want to be but they’re not.

Whirlybird,

One of them has real people acting like real players, the other has brain dead pants on head “AI” characters.

The comic is dumb for many reasons. No one who claims they play multiplayer because they’re more social then goes and blocks all social stuff. Most people play multiplayer because they want to play with/against other real people because that’s where the challenge and fun is.

Whirlybird,

Pubg/apex/Warzone etc all have a ping system where you can tag things for your team mates, be that a weapon to pick up or an enemy location. They also have communication wheels where you can choose a pre selected chat message like “need ammo” or “thanks” for example

Whirlybird,

Seems literally no one other than me can read the article they’re commenting on.

Their language is a gendered language, meaning nouns essentially have a gender. The example given in the article is Latino/Latina. What he is stopping is using the stupid virtue signalling and made up “Latinx” that only white liberals are pushing. Latin people don’t want it.

Whirlybird,

That’s the author putting their opinion in there. It’s not fact. Again - their language is a gendered language. This is just stopping the attempt to bastardise their language by virtue signaling white liberals.

It literally has nothing to do with LGBTQ no matter how much the activists want it to.

Let me ask you this - is the term “Latinx” an LGBTQ specific term?

I’m definitely not. DLSS support is a low level engine feature. The engine developers working on this are not working on content.

DLSS support should be in the engine before there is even any content - it should be there before there’s even a playable build.

Whirlybird, (edited )

In general no, they don’t. Engine programmers aren’t designing levels or characters or missions.

Also as I said, DLSS support should be in the engine before there is even any content.

Whirlybird,

I am, but good try.

Whirlybird, (edited )

Again - DLSS is a low level engine feature. It should be implemented before there is even any content. Sure in a little indie studio the person doing the content is probably doing the engine stuff too, while they’re probably doing the music too, but for a game like Helldivers by a studio with about 100 people, the people doing the engine are not making content.

In fact, lets look at what Arrowhead themselves say about their team that made Helldivers 2, hey?

jobs.arrowheadgamestudios.com/…/programming-tech

Engine Team We work on the core technology of our game - the engine. We’re currently using the Autodesk Stingray engine, which is written in C++. Our main focus is the engine runtime - performance, streaming and core systems. We care a lot about correctness and gathering data to make sound decisions.

See how they’re not making content?

Then there’s the “Game Code Team”. They collaborate with the content creators - Artists, Animators, etc.

Game Code Team We work on the gameplay systems and features. We collaborate with Artists, Animators and all forms of Designers to create the best possible game experiences. We work with C++ and fast iteration times is a key success factor for us.

Then there’s the Tools team: again, not making content

Tools Team We’re responsible for the tools pipeline, such as the game editor. The various content creator teams are our primary customers and improving their workflows is our main concern. We maintain and develop various tools and software, and we work with modern C# .NET and WPF.

See how they mention “content creator teams”? See how they work on the tools for those teams to use?

You still want to carry this on? You think you know better than the people that make the game themselves?

Whirlybird, (edited )

Might want to check my updated post mate lol. They literally specify that they do not, in fact, do other things. I’m not the one guessing, you are. Do you work for Arrowhead?

Dlss is a hardware graphics layer and is not implemented more than calling an api.

As is almost everything in game development. DLSS is an ENGINE feature. It has to be implemented by the engine team. The people making art for the game aren’t implementing DLSS or ray tracing lol.

Whirlybird,

Cool! Irrelevant, but cool I guess!

At arrowhead especially, since they literally tell us on their website, the people doing DLSS would not be doing content or art or music or anything other than engine features.

Whirlybird,

You said, and I quote:

No, the tech works content too. A lot.

The people at arrowhead that would implement DLSS do not make content for the game.

Whirlybird,

The people actually making the game disagree with you, but whatever. It’s clear you’ve got no idea.

Whirlybird,

CEO doesn’t make decisions about what product lines to discontinue. He didn’t create the Australia day thing.

The CEO is ultimately responsible for every decision they make. He absolutely had a say in it and he clearly thought it was a good idea, and he thought his messaging was good.

Of course you fire the CEO before the enquiry, so you can divert blame during the enquiry. “Oh yeah maybe we did some bad stuff but it’s all fixed now”.

Nope, you wait until after the enquiry so you can blame them at the end and say “we’ll take action by firing the ceo”. What if the enquiry comes up with nothing bad and you’ve already fired your CEO? lol

Woolworths is not “finding out”.

Again - CEO gone. Enormous public backlash. This whole thing has even further pushed for calls for inquiries and change.

Just as it was a month ago, any assertion that Woolworth has made a mistake in discontinuing Australia day merch is just absurd.

Bet the CEO doesn’t think that. Bet the people that pushed him to retirement don’t think that. They are a supermarket, not a politician. Keep your shitty politics out of it and sell stuff that people want to buy. Note they never said it didn’t sell, they just said there had been a “gradual decline in sales”. The best selling product on earth can have a gradual decline in sales but still sell well.

Frankly, I’m genuinely surprised you’re still fretting about it.

Same with you.

Whirlybird,

Did you see their now ex ceo in there?
