Xanderill,

I ride 40mins, twice a day by ebike through mostly dirt/country roads. When weather is good, its great. Less so when rainy but still partially enjoyable. Only real concern is cars…and to be fair, deer. See them every morning, usually close up. Join me in the ebike revolution

Xanderill,

Yeah, creepy right? Just wanted to note we eat the fruit of the fungi. The mycelium would be the “living” part.

Xanderill,

How about this. You don’t have to give up allll torturing, raping killing animals, just reduce it.

Xanderill,

Star Wars is doing much better in the arena of video games though.

The idea of buying my first car is very unappealing to me

Ever since I saw how bad the infestation of cars is in the streets all around me, I just don’t find the idea of buying my own car very appealing anymore, in my small and dense town, every new vehicle on the street is a problem when the streets are tight and people already double park in many spots....

Xanderill,

I suppose it really depends on where you live. I usually don’t lock up and leave my battery in.

Xanderill,

Yep yep, good on ya. Getting an ebike? I’m up to almost 3k miles on mine over the past 15 months. I love it

Xanderill,

Burying lines may or may not be progress. That’s not what I said

Xanderill,
Xanderill,

2 big problems with that statement. 1st, it’s being harvested at a much greater rate than it’s being replenished. Second, old trees and old forests are far more valuable to the ecosystem than the cookie cutter “forests” planted after harvests.

Xanderill,

Youre wrong

Xanderill,

Just reality. I thought it was pretty clear but I’ll say it anyway, it’s angry about deforestation, with a particular emphasis on old trees, hundreds, setumes thousand year old lynchpins in an already devastated ecosystems.

Xanderill,

Glad to hear it’s going well in Western Europe, but that’s far from the norm.

My point is trees are much more than wood.

A spooky season old movie recommendation! They Live (1988) (lemmy.world)

This is one of those movies that invite you into a new language once you see it. Amazing in both its effectiveness and hilarious camp. It almost contains the greatest fist fight scene of all time. But it’s not just a movie to be gawked at, It’s a movie to be savored....

Xanderill,

Yes! Loved this movie. If yall haven’t seen the modern version, it is also awesome. “They cloned Tyrone”, netflix only I think?

Xanderill,

I like em all. Oat, almond, soy, cashew, hemp, coconut, rice, pea. Prefer soy and nut milks with pea protein for the high protein content. Veganism isn’t about taste though

Xanderill,

Obligatory vegan downvote…ill remove it if you mention plant based milk

Xanderill,

A diet of 20% milk and sour cream? Lol… Anyway, You can do it! Watch/research what happens to those poor cows for some inspiration

The idea that dogs shouldn't have "human food" doesn't make sense.

Sure, don’t give dogs twinkies, but for that matter, don’t give humans twinkies either. The idea makes it seem like dogs are aliens or something. Dog food ingredients are usually meat, grain and veggies, just like our meals. Food that is healthy for you is healthy for your dog, and vice versa.

Xanderill,

Ohh the drama. If you read the article you’ll see most of those plants are only toxic to dogs if you eat the stems, leafs, or seeds. Clickbaity article. Of course there are some exceptions like onion and chocolate.

Xanderill,

Too late! And ya know what, they just died. Vet said too much human food. Damn.

Xanderill,

I think that’s a good point. Sauces are so common. Good to know, but in my experience, that’s not what people are referring to when they make such a comment. But maybe I’m wrong.

Xanderill,

Had like 5ish total. All good. One time I called and was quoted something horrendous, called another shop for something like half price

Xanderill,

I choked on my dinner when it clicked. Too funny!

17-year-old U.S. national team racer Magnus White killed by driver in Colorado - Canadian Cycling Magazine (cyclingmagazine.ca)

White is not the only high-level cyclist to die in Colorado in recent years. In 2020, Clif Pro Team racer Ben Sonntag was killed by a driver while on a training ride outside Durango. That driver was sentenced to serve jail time in late 2021. In 2021, U.S. masters champion Gwen Inglis was killed by a driver outside Lakewood,...

Xanderill,

Tragic and far too common. About 1,000 cyclists killed annually in the U.S. Cars are a plague.
