The latest KDE neon with Plasma 6 looks pretty useable nowadays. My Linux Desktop is still secondary and serves mostly as server and TV display. It either shows videos or a huge 40” full screen terminal above my Mac workstation.
It runs Pop-OS now which is also based on Ubuntu so switching would be possible (but it’s work). I’ll keep KDE Neon in mind if I ever manage to fully drop Mac OS.
I read a 350 page book about NeXT and it took me about 100 page to realize it was from 1993 so it missed all recent events including a billion iPhones running its descendent.
In 1993 NeXT was a (financial) train wreck and Jobs was a loser in addition to the usual asshole. It’s amusing to read this in 2023. Not a very good book for me as it has really few tech details. It’s mostly about business.
"Something happens when one tries to have rational conversations about downsides with people strongly advocating expansion of type-level programming capabilities (…) This happens all the time once extensive type-level programming facilities are available in a language–they immediately get misapplied in ways that makes code harder to understand, excludes beginners and fails to convince those from the outside."
