Regardless of your political leanings, it's hard to not see as a massive achievement of the Commission.

Without joint purchasing of gas, the prices would have gone through the roof, and there would have been nowhere as much deployment of renewables.

This is the European cooperation and solidarity that Euroskeptics and nationalists want to destroy.

@sincereabsurdity I think that would be a shortcut at this point. The paper definitely needs attention and more research is needed to confirm computational complexity of the algorithm against various lattice parameter sets. But curious what other folks think like @malb or @ducasleo

Interesting paper from 2018 quantifying the impact of on systems.

The 🇨🇳 BeiDou system was outperforming 🇪🇺 Galileo and 🇺🇸GPS during solar flare conditions due to more frequently updated broadcast ionospheric models.

I know Galileo/EGNOS did a recent system upgrade to provide increased resilience against solar peak activity, anticipating Solar Cycle 25, but not sure what those consisted of. Maybe @bert_hubert would know?

"the solar storm ruined the accuracy of RTK systems for many farmers using John Deere tractors”

"Tom Schwarz, who owns an organic farm in Nebraska, told me he had to stop planting on Friday and Saturday because of the issue, and said that the outage, combined with a bad weather forecast in the next few days, is threatening the small time window that he has to plant corn.”

According to the Deere website, their Radio RTK does only use GPS and GLONASS.

“The decision is the culmination of a review of so-called Section 301 tariffs first put into place under Trump starting in 2018. The new tariffs will focus on industries including electric vehicles, batteries and solar cells, with existing levies largely being maintained. An announcement is scheduled for Tuesday, two of the people said.”

    🇨🇭🕵️ Fibertapping in Switzerland

On certain international fibers, signals are intercepted & decoded into data then filtered. Irrelevant data is excluded as well as communications where both the sender and receiver are in Switzerland.
From the remaining data, it is searched against specific patterns/keywords.

They call out encryption being a challenge but fibertapping is still useful according evidence shown to the federal administrative tribunal.

Musk just spouting misinformation because he can't stand anyone defending digital commons (like Signal, Wikipedia ... ), and actually do good.

It's really laughable to make any claims like that given the despicable security of X “encrypted" DMs.

Interesting development to follow: Researchers from the University of Basel and the NCCR SPIN have achieved the first controllable interaction between two hole spin qubits in a conventional silicon transistor.

These qubits can be manufactured with FinFETs transistors using "classical" silicon fabrication methods, opening up the path to faster scaling than competing architectures.

It's sad to read that Germany, and probably other European states, are a pain to operate non-profits around open source software.

I hope @PrototypeFund or other organizations can help lobby to change these practices that are unnecessarily causing organizations to create a 501(c)(3) in the US. https://mastodon.social/@Mastodon/112343541328038890

If you're incorporating a non-profit in Switzerland for an open-source project, @hannes tells me the Canton of Basel has the most-forward looking cantonal administration.
