Apparently the German government paid Microsoft 198 million Euro for software licenses in 2023 alone…and all I can think of is the good that such a large sum could do if instead it was donated to the Linux foundation and various other #FOSS projects. 😳

@matt yeah obviously it’s not going to be as easy as „switch everyone to Linux from one day to the next“—especially since like you said there’s potentially glaring issues. But I’m sure they’d be able to work something out, maybe keep some Windows licenses around for workstations where accessibility is non-negotiable while putting some of the freed funding into the development of accessibility stacks for Linux. I’m sure just a single million of funding could already do so much good. 😊
