I think it's wrong that you have to scroll past FIFTY items on the BBC News front page before you get to the local election results https://www.bbc.com/news/uk-politics-65503082

On 3 September 1189, Richard I was crowned King in Westminster Abbey. Jews were barred from attending, but in a spirit of heartfelt goodwill, some Jewish leaders arrived bearing gifts for the new king. A (I promise fairly short) thread on the local elections results

When you spin you could lose 1,000 seats (because you privately think it will be a bit better than that), and then you actually lose more than that, there's no getting round the fact it was a bad night 1/9

This is a pretty insane (& extremely disappointing) message to receive for posting a sarcastic response to a tweet of an actual photo someone took of me.

In case it wasn’t clear, the v6 comment was a joke. And I’m not sure what false info tweets they’re talking about?

Make me a business bank that

  • makes KYC for complex businesses not a total nightmare, therefore makes switching possible
  • allows basic business controls of two people signing off payments
  • pays some interest on money held
  • obviously allows multiple access as well as account holder
...and I will be there like a shot.
But for all the 'innovation' in the sector, I rate the chances of this about the same as the chances of a whelk in a supernova...

The reaction to this tragedy here in Serbia is fascinating. Two days of public mourning (no music, weddings, celebrations), and plans to change the law (Serbia may have a lot of guns but they're tightly controlled and I've never, ever seen one).

@ollybenson well, we'll see - I suspect there was a significant increase. Large numbers of course is relative - for me, the benchmark is if it was more than the estimated number (7?) of personations nationally previously.

How much does the eye tell the brain? Not much.

1000:1 🗜️ from eye to optic nerve
25000:1 🗜️from optic nerve to brain

For every 1Gb collected by the eye, 1Mb is sent to the brain thru optic nerve & <100bits used

And how fast? ~875Kbps about the same as broadband internet speed

@lucyweirphd yes indeed - the challenge of course is that to operate you must have some form of 'variety attenuation' - and choosing the socially normal framing (like 'purpose') is easier for pack animals like humans...
