bacteriostat, to linux in PSA: Plasma Wayland on laptop could still be a pain to use

That’s just one specific issue. It doesn’t mean that the whole plasma wayland session is a pain. Been using it for more than a year now.

bacteriostat, to privacyguides in India's biggest data breach? Hacking gang claims to have stolen 815 million people's personal information

The data leak is of AADHAR database. Which is a proof of identity that is required by everyone to avail government services. It is even used for SIM registration and opening bank account.

Government has been recently trying to link Voter IDs to AADHAR. It is already linked to Tax Account called PAN.

It has been turned it to a surveillance tool and this leak can be huge if true.

bacteriostat, to news in ‘If you don’t take off your clothes, we will kill you’: Kuki women paraded naked in Manipur, India

The conflict was triggered when the state High Court gave a verdict in favour of the Meiti community for a long standing demand for special previliges.

The Wikipedia article about the violence has a good overview.

bacteriostat, to android in Mishaal Rahman | On Google dropping support for AOSP Dialer and Messaging App

I am afraid, Google might never do it.

bacteriostat, to asklemmy in If you create a sub on Lemmy, are you responsible for its moderation? If so, how much of a pain is that, really?

No, infact sync would make the moderation system useless. I think there is going to be both advantages and disadvantages with this approach. One big disadvantage is differentiating the communities because users would be expected to check the server name.

bacteriostat, to asklemmy in If you create a sub on Lemmy, are you responsible for its moderation? If so, how much of a pain is that, really?

I also have a lot of questions regarding how same communities on different servers would look like. There are already 2 c/technology communities. Are they totally seprate or the data is synced between the two?

bacteriostat, (edited ) to linux in A bunch of improvements landing for Firefox on Linux smartphones

While Linux phones seem a distant dream. I think these are the major features that are needed for it to be a suitable daily driver for developers:

  • Waydroid - Cause we gotta have android apps.
  • Proper 5G/4G/3G Support.
  • Availability of more devices that can run Linux.
bacteriostat, to foss in This is looking bad, you guys.

First they went after Vanced, now Invidious. With the ongoing recession, companies are realising that less and less people would be be willing to pay for subscriptions and to increase their revenue they are going to tie all the loose ends they have allowed over the years.

bacteriostat, (edited ) to jerboa in is it possible to create a community on jeroba?

Not on Jerboa but if your instance allows it the mobile web interface will have the option to create it.

bacteriostat, to chat in consider starting to post, if you where a lurker or commenter on reddit

I didn't even have a reddit account and just used RedReader as a resource lol. I agree that we need to interact on the platform to make the kind of content that Reddit has.

bacteriostat, to technology in Intel Announces "Biggest Brand Update" For Core CPUs

I have 2 systems and both are AMD machines with impressive performance per watt (obviously not as good as Apple's M series). Intel has a long way to go before they can be a genuine alternative.

bacteriostat, to kde in Are you on X or Wayland?

Yup. I am myself running Plasma Wayland on 2 laptops (both Ryzen APUs) for over an year now. Seems like Nvidia is the biggest limiting factor.
