Let me tell you a story in a single screenshot about how many problems have been caused in this world because telecom uses NEGATIVE 48 volts to power all of their equipment.

I will be answering no follow up questions.

@kwf wait, how does this kind of PSU even work?!
The backplane is not running -12V. and the zero must still be zero relative to the ground plane.

Is there any other way than having the PSU run with three power domains (one in the middle that is isolated from ground?)?

Company reorg is nice.

You get new responsibilities. Oh you get to keep the previous ones.

Because nobody actually got reassigned to do the stuff you were doing 6 months ago.

One of the fun parts of being a mirror operator is that you get to deal with China Mobile using ISO download mirrors to fix their traffic ratios with other ISPs at peering points.

Looks like they've moved to using Slackware now...

Lazy toot: the Dell R440 has this mezzanine NIC that clearly has a 10G option. Anyone know what the keywords are that I should search for on eBay to upgrade the 2x1G NIC in this box?

@kwf CF4P0 or 0CF4P0

@kwf 0GVXF4 might also work. It is designed for the R540 (same gen) but it's a 2U, so the thermals will differ.

But looks like half the price.

@kwf I mean, I don't think you're ever going to have issues with a 0gvxf4. It's a dummy broadcom with very little amount of features.
And it looks like it's less expensive than a mellanox?

Unless you already have connect-x3 on hand?

@kwf I didn't now x3 were that cheap.
