The first logo made was for Halloween, so we, unfortunately, missed Canadian Thanksgiving, but will be sure to include next year. Thanks for the link. What we’re looking for is users’ personal experiences with holidays, as we may not be as familiar as a person local to that area would be. We can easily look up a list and make something, but we want to make sure they are represented accurately. Thank you!

Thank you, would love to hear some personal stories about these celebrations.

This is just for the LW logo, not individual community artwork. Similar to Google Doodles.

Haha, no worries. Yeah, going to be posted one at a time around the given holiday. So you’ll see the logo change to the themed one for a few days throughout the year.

Thank you, can you give me some details on this. Looking it up shows Aug 5, 2024 also.

Awesome, thanks so much for the detail. Added to the list.

Thanks for the suggestions. I don’t know about Oilfield Day but Fasnacht day sounds fun!

It would be so incredibly easy to shut up about trans people

It was like 4 or 5 specials in a row too. He was a surprise opener when I saw Jon Mulaney last year and he went on another trans rant there. Very disappointing.

Probably depends on the venue. But openers are usually only 5-15 min or so anyway, depending on how many and how the show is structured. Chappelle was disappointing, but not enough to ruin the rest of the show. I was happy to stay for Jon Mulaney’s set which was fantastic.

I’m going today! I’m a huge Godzilla fan. Would you say it’s on par with Shin Godzilla?

Lol, I just noticed your other comment. Thanks for responding to this one as well! Good to hear!

Loved it. Maybe even more than Shin, but I think being a veteran with PTSD let me connect to this story a lot. I couldn’t help but feel for Koichi, with how he was fighting his own war internally. Hit very close to home. When he got pushed into the alley, I just felt like “how much more survivors guilt can this guy have”. And it hit me hard when he was asked if his war was finally over.

But as far as Godzilla goes, loved his design. He was so menacing in this. Not an anti-hero, nor a “good guy”. He was a monster just destroying everything. The boat chase scene, he just looked evil. The atomic breath design was a highlight and the explosions that it made were incredible.

The cinematography was so well done, especially the 3rd act. The whole movie had very much an anime feel IMO. Lots of Attack on Titan vibes, especially with how Godzilla moved. I loved the boat captain, he felt the most like an anime character to me.

If you’re a Godzilla fan at all, you’ll enjoy it.

Just got back and I loved it. I put more thoughts in another comment.

Love this post. I’ll pin it for more visibility. And once you get a good list, I can add to the sidebar. Oh, I’d also put each link on a new line, just to make it easier to read. It looks one long link in each section, currently. Or like you said, I can make a post later and organize it if you want too.

My contributions:

Dan Murrell on YouTube. I find I’m in agreement with his reviews most of the time.

The Filmcast podcast is the only one I listen to regularly these days.

Oh yeah, it’s the Lemmy formatting. if you put 2 spaces or a backslash at the end it will add a line break and it won’t be double spaced, if you want to tighten it up a bit. Also you can insert a horizontal line by typing at least 3 dashes if that’s what you were going for with the row of pound signs. Looks like this:

Thanks for updating, looks great!

Nice, thanks. I’m going try it out. Not sure about the aerogarden, but maybe I can put a small pot next to my big one and use the light.

[DISCUSSION] What director(s) do you think have the best filmography?

I was checking out the new season of Fargo, which made me want to rewatch the 1996 movie and I got to thinking, the Coen Brothers have a fantastic filmography. They have way more hits than misses and they make some of the most interesting movies out there. No Country for Old Men is probably one of my favorites of all time. So...

canthidium,

Yeah, I’m a cinematography and logistics nerd. I am fascinated by just how they do things in film a lot and Nolan is great for that.

And the music was great, I did not mind that it was too loud!

I think the big issue was the dialogue was too low a lot of the time.
