I know people in the collective and they are not calling for the murder or forced expulsions of Jews.

I'm sure you're aware of the landback movement in the US and that it's not trying to create a massive refugee crisis.

They're anarchists. They think the political state of Israel is institutionally racist and can be removed. People often argue that anarchists are naive if they think there's a peaceful future beyond violent states. Maybe they are, but they also provided thousands of free meals to hungry people. The loss of the Punk Peacock is a real blow to much of British Jewry.

There's used to be a running joke about reply guys on fedi. Hans from Stuttgart, the Arch user is the fictional reply guy archetype.

Its an ethnic stereotype and therefore unfair, but german-speaking Foss users are overrepresented in the reply guy hall of shame, alas.

(USian fedi users have their own extremely annoying quirks, though.)

We all like education, right? I know I do!

Well, amazingly, the fediverse is full of experts on different things. Every day can be a learning day!

Alas, one thing a bunch of people are experts on is how intersecting parts of their identity are policed and what different kinds of bigotry look like in practice. This is sad, but some of these people are volunteering to share this valuable, expert knowledge as a favour to help out moderators and individuals. This is obviously not an easy subject, but what incredible generosity!

It costs nothing to listen, to take on board, to reflect and to act on this.

We scoff at people who "do their own research"on climate change and ignore experts. So let's be consistent with our believe-experts values.

We have an incredible chance not only to make the world a better place, but to help ourselves become better people.

Lessons, living with parents with dementia: when an app on their phone spontaneously changes it's icon, it's a fucking disaster.

Some Google engineer launched a feature that got them a promotion and now my mom can't use her phone anymore. Silicon Valley is incapable of imagining a user who isn't a 27 year old white man.
