chetradley,

Ok, so it’s an AI episode, but like instead of an actual AI it’s a prosthetic eye that tries to steal your job and makes pictures of people with weird hands. It’s an “a-eye”, get it?

chetradley,

TBH I’m kinda over seeing AI generated content in discussions like this. It used to be novel and quite impressive, but now that I’ve seen this type of thing so many times and the reality of the negative impacts of LLMs has set in, it just doesn’t hit for me at all. It’s fun to speculate about an LLM writing TV scripts, but my worry is that this will become an actual thing in the near future: soulless generated “content” companies can sell us without having to pay hardworking and talented writers, and that shit just bums me out.

Anyway, nothing against you, and I don’t fault you for posting it, but that’s my thoughts. Maybe I’m in the minority though, who knows?

chetradley,

Sony likes to pretend they’re consumer friendly with stuff like this but it always comes with a huge caveat to try to push people into their closed ecosystem. Same idea as releasing PS Studios games on PC, but only just before the PS exclusive sequel comes out.

chetradley,

Best we can do is sell you a $200 piece of plastic that promises to but doesn’t actually do these things, then automate your job away.

chetradley,

Here’s a cheap and easy recipe I like: minimalistbaker.com/easy-vegan-mayo-with-aquafaba…

chetradley,

Sorry but I absolutely hate this take. I stopped eating meat about 15 years ago, but I grew up on meat-based dishes, and I occasionally like to eat stuff from my childhood, just without the meat. It literally doesn’t affect you at all, but you still find the need to tell me that I’m wrong for eating what I enjoy.

chetradley,

Why not? The seasonings are what makes it taste like a hotdog and I’m not eating a hotdog because it’s healthy. Let people enjoy things.

chetradley,

Sometimes you just want something that tastes like a hotdog but didn’t come from an animal.

chetradley,

That’s my usual go-to when I’m camping or at a BBQ and want a regular hotdog. I’m sure some people in this thread will tell me I’m wrong though and suggest I instead cook some beans on the campfire lol.

chetradley,

They’re not upset about them building bombs that kill Palestinian children, they’re upset that they also hire black people.

chetradley,

females

Tells me everything I need to know about you.

chetradley,

It’s important to note the types of farming that use the most land:

chetradley,

I think you’re hitting on an interesting concept with regards to activism: that it can be categorized into actions that raise awareness, and actions that provide education.

Take, for example, this story about climate activists blocking traffic in Amsterdam to protest ING’s financing of fossil fuels exploration. Though you may disagree with the methods used in the protest, it’s hard to deny the success of it based on the national attention it drew. Because of it, more people who are opposed to the idea of expanding fossil fuel use are aware of ING’s funding of it.

I think very few people would say that they are now in favor of fossil fuel exploration, or simply do not care to learn more about environmentalism due to the controversial actions of the protesters.

I suppose my question for you is, what would have made you want to seek more information about veganism, and what about this post made you suddenly not want to lean more?

chetradley,

This is an interesting edge case you’re presenting, but it’s not representative of the overwhelming majority of agricultural land devoted to livestock, and it’s been largely solved by modern supply chains and distribution.

chetradley,

Would you level the same criticism against someone posting memes about climate change?

chetradley,
chetradley,

Yes, but shipping veggies has negligible GHG emissions compared to livestock farming. You’re hung up on a small fraction of livestock production when the vast majority is factory farmed.

chetradley,

I think it depends on the circumstances. I work for a publisher and submitted a request for one of my clients copyrighted books to be removed from the archive, and they took it down the same day.

chetradley,

When your dungeon master tells you that attacks made while underwater are rolled with disadvantage.
