I saw #YoungWomanAndTheSea yesterday, a film based on the true story of Gertrude "Trudy" Ederle, the first woman to swim across the English Channel, in 1926.
Such a terrific movie, very well done, great job by #DaisyRidley and the rest of the ensemble cast, even when they're playing characters you'd like to toss into the ocean. /1
I was at an early access screening at #AMCTheatres , in support of #USASwimming . I was surprised to see quite a number of younger children there, between the ages of maybe 7 and 12, to the point where I wondered whether I was in the wrong theatre.
Well, my preconceived notions clearly showed, because the kids were quiet throughout the whole movie. They were absolutely engaged. Maybe they were swimmers themselves or had siblings that were? /2
If you get a chance, I highly recommend this film. One warning, though - if you're inclined to seasickness symptoms while watching movies with water motions, you'll want to look away for a bit during certain nausea-inducing scenes. Ask me how I know. 🤢 #YoungWomanAndTheSea /3 end
At #PixarPalsPlaytimeParty in the #FantasylandTheatre in #Disneyland for #PixarFest , there's also a photo op for #ItsABugsLife, and included in that is a box of Casey Jr. cookies. The "nutrition facts" caught my eye. 8,000 calorie diet seems ... high? And there's always a disclaimer about what could inadvertently be included, but the last line seems like more than you should expect? And, the mis-spelling is not mine. 1/2
For lunch today from #AwardWieners , I tried the plant-based Philly dog, topped with mushrooms, grilled onions and peppers and dairy-free crema. For some reason, I hadn't expected there to be a hot dog, just the vegetables. That might have been better, as the hot dog had zero flavor. None. I ended up having to put mustard on it to give it some flavor. It's not the first time I've encountered a plant-based product devoid of flavor, even something as simple as just salt. I don't get it. 1/2
I also tried the asada fries - filmstrip fries topped with marinated carne asada, cheddar cheese, cilantro and onions, with salsa de arbol and guacamole. I enjoyed this, and the guac was particularly good. #AwardWieners#DisneyCaliforniaAdventure 2/2
We finally found the new Big Al sculpture, with the help of friends. We'd gone looking for him last week but I'd thought he was in a different place, and we apparently walked right past him without seeing him because we were focused on something else.
He's situated in the Disney Vacation Club space just across the #GrandCalifornianHotel entrance into #DisneyCaliforniaAdventure . The lockers have been moved further up the path, and they're free for 2 hours while you go on Grizzly River Run. 1/2
Our friends discovered that if you wave a Magic Band or touched Big Al with it (we didn't quite figure out what the trigger was), he would talk or sing. Pretty cool. #CountryBearJamboree#DisneyCaliforniaAdventure 2/2
Welcome back, #Fantasmic ! Good to see you again, #PeterPan and #CaptainHook . Y'all have been sorely missed. The Columbia needed a little help tonight. #Disneyland 1/3
A woman is just about to cross the finish line of a half marathon. Her husband encourages their kids to celebrate with her. Except that he does this before the finish line, not after. He literally pushes two of the kids into her path to hug her. She deftly runs around them to cross the finish line. /1
"‘Not a real man’: Dad slammed for ruining mum’s big moment"
You can't see it in the video in this story, but in others, he throws up his hands like he doesn't understand why she would "ignore" her kids.
What an asshole. He couldn't do this 20 yards further, after his wife has crossed the finish line and had a minute to revel in her triumph. He tries to interrupt her finish as well as putting the two kids in the path of danger, with another runner and a motorcycle in close proximity. /2
And he's trying to damage the relationship between her and her kids. They don't understand the finish line. They just know they ran to their mom and she ran past them, which I'm sure they're not used to. She's the one who's going to have to explain to them later why she did that. /3
This is even worse than the men who otherwise try to ruin big moments in a woman's life, whether it be a sporting accomplishment or a graduation or something else. But this is worse because he's weaponizing their young children. /4 end

When the husband took the dish back up, the cast member looked at it, looked confused, and then called for another of the dish, which is what he brought back. He said the CM didn't seem to know what the dish was either.
You can see in this picture, of the regular dish, that it does contain a few pieces of gnocchi, which are the orange lumps at the bottom middle of the picture. (Not the bigger orange lump at the bottom right - that's a pepper.) /4
I think this is a terrific vegetarian offering, and I would absolutely order it, especially with the abundance of kale. The question would be how to go about doing that, and if it's available, why isn't it included on the menus in the app?
