[Pre-release] v0.4.0-3 (github.com)

This is the third pre-release for Thunder v0.4.0! This pre-release version introduces experimental support for videos, and many other changes and bug fixes. This will be the last pre-release containing new features as the upcoming pre-releases will mainly focus on fixing any existing issues that come up to prepare for a general...

darklightxi,

Hey there! As others have mentioned, it could be an issue with your network.

Are you perhaps using a VPN? If so, this may be an issue as some instances block image uploading or other actions (I believe lemmy.world blocks image uploads if you’re using a VPN)

If you’re still having issues, feel free to open up a new GitHub issue and we can take a further look into this (as a side note, I’m using iOS and I haven’t encountered any issues)!

darklightxi,

Let OP/mod colors take precedence and override the default color with them

I think this is a good idea! This should allow for colorized user/instance names while keeping special user badges distinguishable.

darklightxi,

Thanks for the feature request! If possible, could you create a new GitHub issue for this? This is the best way for us to track feature requests and be able to act on them.

Alpha Release [v0.3.0]: Modlogs, mod reports, and more customizations! (github.com)

Hey everyone, its been a while but it’s finally time for another Thunder release. As always, there have been many improvements, additions, changes and fixes in this release which should make for a even better Thunder experience. If you have any suggestions or feedback, feel free to discuss it in the Thunder community or on...

darklightxi,

As always, please mention any issues that you find in this version here or on GitHub!

darklightxi,

Thanks for the kind words!

Any chance that gestures become with haptic feedback

I believe there is already haptic feedback for the gesture actions (upvote/downvote/save/mark as read/reply). If you don’t have them, double check and see if your system settings has vibrations enabled! If that doesn’t work, I would suggest opening up a new issue on GitHub with more details so that we can reproduce the issue.

also to be able to change their colors, eg red for downvote green for upvote

I don’t believe this has been requested before. Please open a new issue on GitHub for this so that we can better track it 😄

darklightxi,

Ehem…no there is no haptic feedback actually.

Hmm, unfortunately I don’t have an Android device to test with so I won’t be able to reproduce the issue on my end. I’ll ping @micahmo to see if he can reproduce this!

I’m afraid I’m a bit far from this GitHub area so cannot help with opening up an issue

That’s alright! I’ve created it for you here. Let me know if the description matches what you were expecting!

darklightxi,

It might be a device/version dependent issue - perhaps related to permissions

Could you let me know what device and Android version you’re currently using? Also, could you double check that vibrations permissions are enabled for Thunder? Thanks!

darklightxi,

I’m glad we found the root cause of the issue. I’d also like to chime in here to say that I think it makes the most sense for Thunder to respect the system settings. I know that I would also get frustrated if it were the opposite. For example, if I had system haptics off but an app was not respecting the system settings.

@WeAreAllOne may be a dumb question, but are there per app settings that can be set to turn on/off haptics? If so, this may be the best course of action to take!

darklightxi,

Update - this feature is currently in the works here: github.com/thunder-app/thunder/pull/1304.

It would be great if you could take a look at this and let us know any feedback on it (there’s a video demo attached to the PR)!

darklightxi, (edited )

Update: found the issue and applied a fix. This will come in a nightly build soon! See github.com/thunder-app/thunder/pull/1334

Thanks for the report! This issue is being tracked here: github.com/thunder-app/thunder/issues/1330

I’ll take a look at it and see what’s causing these issues.

darklightxi,

Hey there, thanks for mentioning this issue. If you haven’t already, could you try logging out then back in to see if that resolves the issue?

If that doesn’t work, I would suggest going to Settings -> Debug -> Delete Local Database. This will clear all accounts on your device. Restart Thunder after clearing the database and try to login again.

If all of that doesn’t work, please submit a new issue on GitHub with more details (Thunder version, screenshots, reproducible steps, etc). Thanks!

darklightxi,

Glad it worked!

darklightxi,

Thanks for mentioning this issue! I believe this has already been fixed in the latest nightly build v0.3.0-1.

The fix is not yet on the general release build yet (v0.2.9) but should come eventually when v0.3.0 is near completion. As a temporary measure, you can block the user and the corresponding comments should be gone!

darklightxi,

Hey there! As others have already mentioned, you can switch between your instances by long pressing on the Account/Profile tab and selecting your other account.

If you’re asking how to migrate your account’s subscriptions to another account, that feature is not yet available in Thunder.

darklightxi,

Hey there! I believe the dividers are still there, but they might’ve been slightly tweaked in between versions. I’m working on making this a customizable setting to tweak and it should arrive in a nightly build soon.

I’ll provide more details when I have everything set up!

darklightxi,

Here’s the associated PR which adds customizable dividers: github.com/thunder-app/thunder/pull/1230

[Feature Request] Auto Play GIFs and Videos from Redgifs / Catbox / Imgur etc. (lemmynsfw.com)

I really appreciate the two column layout of the app when using it on an iPad and I would really appreciate if the app could automatically play GIFs and videos that are hosted remotely, instead of just displaying their URL (see example in upper left corner)....

darklightxi,

Just wanted to let you know I wrote an update to this as a reply to the main post!
