Came across a neat-looking indie gamedev tool that I wanted to check out, but they dropped Mac support when Apple killed 32-bit apps ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™‚๏ธ

The bridges Apple burned with indie game devs with the 32-bit cutoff and notarization still have repercussions today, and will far into the future

@stroughtonsmith the 32-bit cutoff has been painful, yeah. I used to jump through hoops to use a good, Windows-only, 32-bit dev-focused Game Boy emulator on macOS via WINE for homebrew dev. Now I just use my PC when I really need to test something in that emulator, and use a different emulator on macOS.

32-bit cutoff hurt gaming in general more than other apps, I think, beyond just dev. Limited reason to run, say, Word '97 today, but Doom is timeless.

I've used MagicaVoxel for voxels on Mac.

Midjourney v6โ€™s new text feature is kinda fun โ€” it does a much better job of integrating readable text into generated images

@stroughtonsmith Well now I want a kobold movie, too.

So long as they're puppets.

I love the candles on their heads in the second image. Was that part of the prompt, or is the cultural impact of World of Warcraft on the idea of kobolds just that strong?

I think many of you may remember when every web page pretty much looked like this https://transcripts.cnn.com

@cabel The RSS feed page looks like it hasn't been updated in years, either, which is kind of depressing in its own right. https://www.cnn.com/services/rss/

The CNN Money RSS feed page has some really classic icons on it. https://money.cnn.com/services/rss/

A headset that costs thousands of dollars is something many people are going to want to try out in person before buying.

But at the same time, do you really want to put something on your face that has been on thousands of other faces?

Going to be a unique logistical exercise for the Apple Stores.

@chockenberry And all rumors I've seen say the headset will be too thin for glasses. Prescription lenses will be available, which will be great for the owner. But for demo purposes, you need to already have great vision or contacts, or you're just not going to be able to have a good demo experience.
