Hey @gruber here’s a word choice question for ya. In the iPad Air announcement they described interacting with something on screen as “a click”, and for iPad Pro they said “a tap”. Are they interchangeable or was this intentional?
@onlytruejustin@dougmcarthur I'd say that counts as a mistake. Perhaps originally they used a clip where the button was activated using the trackpad cursor, and changed it to touch, and let the narration stand? Most likely though just a mistake.
@gruber yea, probably just a mistake, something held over from an earlier version of the script. as it happens I am a tap-to-click person. Pressing down on the trackpad to register a click feels counterintuitive to me when my brain knows that all those haptics are sensory tricks! ;)
Actor, writer, YouTube creator and tech nerd extraordinaire @jef had me as a guest on his podcast Do The Thing, which is out now! We talked about careers, creative spaces and finding the right people to make stuff with. I heaped praise on Rusty Robot and also played a song on the show, so stick around to the end for that! The video is premiering on YouTube later today, or you can listen to the audio-only podcast right now on Assembler.fm.
I had a nice little chuckle to myself today, opening the Mac App Store to see that the number 1 spot for "Best New Apps and Updates" is a journaling app. If the rumour mill is to be believed, we're just a few months away from Apple potentially sherlocking that entire category. Sure, there's always room for "deluxe" apps in any category, but I do wonder how the devs feel, getting one last boost before the platform itself might crush them. @gruber do you think this was intentional or algorithmic?
