@sarajw They cited Wiktionary, where the alternative meanings are classified as rare, archaic, obsolete and offensive slang. I don't know what meaning they where opting for, but their source should tell them that it's not a regular one.

I guess they just got defensive, then played the victim when they saw everyone agreeing they were wrong.

Oooohkay. There's a thing in Germany called Kinderturnen. It's like baby gymnastics, I suppose. Often like an obstacle course.

Anyway, one boy is chasing another using a rope like a whip. The younger, smaller boy is crying out. I give chase and get the bigger boy to stop whipping him.

He's like "it's my brother?" and I'm like "so? Doing that hurts!" then, their father tells me again that they're brothers, and it's up to him to deal with them, not me. I'm like, ok.

@sarajw Thank you for standing up for the little one. The kids need to know that the adults are there for them, related or not. And the responsible parent needs to know that their negligence is seen as well.

We must make our best effort to see and acknowledge the people in our community, kids included, and mostly with positive attention.

A mantra we have for addressing mistreatment of others is:

I saw what you did.
If someone did that to me, I would not like it.
So stop.

@sarajw It’s a chaotic setting, so things would be more animated and louder than normal. It’s also normal for the parent of the kids to be a bit defensive when strangers interfere, but maybe upon reflection they’ll see how that situation was not playful for the rest of you.

Hopefully you can talk things out later, in a more peaceful setting. I know I’d feel safer knowing that adults in my community would stop a situation they perceived as unsafe, rather than wait it out.

@adam Just got my Prami-pin today, so cute! Daughter called dibs on the coaster, but now she wants a pin for her little clubs as well. Do you want to share what company you used to make the pins so I can make some pins for "bike club", "garden club" and "climbing trees club"? 🙏🏻
