What's your "base" stack of choice?

How do you set up a server? Do you do any automation or do you just open up an SSH session and YOLO? Any containers? Is docker-compose enough for you or are you one of those unicorns who had no issues whatsoever with rootless Podman? Do you use any premade scripts or do you hand craft it all? What distro are you building on top...

fbievan,

I have a mix of docker and bare metal stuff... that is it.

fbievan,

Hey, you can make a feature request to the upstream project here at codeberg: https://codeberg.org/Kbin/kbin-core

OC Kbin instances seem more isolated from each other than from Lemmy instances

EDIT: Sorry I did not make this clear. I am not presenting this as a techincal problem for admins to solve, but as a community problem. The kbin.social community as the larger instance is not seeking out communities from the smaller instances....

fbievan,

Honestly, kbin isn't fully ready... it's very early in it's development cycle. But I entirely agree on this here. I think the main thing kbin needs to work on right now is becoming stable...

Are there alternatives to platforms like youtube and twitch.

I do like watching videos on theses platforms but if your someone who wants to create gaming or random videos then youtube feels overcrowded. is there a less overcrowded, option to look into, and im still debating if i should watch videos or make videos as a hobby. you all got any tips or suggestions aswell by chance?

fbievan,

There is peertube, and for twitch I mean owncast exists... Odysee is also highly recommended.

fbievan,

Odysee actively delists those people AFAIK... however Odysee I dont think is FLOSS, thus peertube is on a higher list than odysee... However peertube production value is still lacking in comparsion to odysee... (I do not have any political affiliation)

Youtube and other sites, like reddit rely on people using them and creating stuff to keep people around, odysee and peertube are no different in that regard.

I don't really use them because most of the people I like are on Youtube, and there are pretty good youtube clients.
