When I create a post in Vlemmy the drop down to select language only has Undetermined and some symbols which likely describe some other language, but I can' tell which....
So basically for some communities one may not get all the posts if one reads in another instance? I am new to Lemmy, but if I am understanding it correctly, seems to totally defeat the purpose of reading in a different instance from where something is created. Hope they fix it soon.
I see a new version at lemmy.ml. will we be upgrading? It seems it is not an official release, but this current release seems in such bad shape that can't imagine an RC been much worse.
The more I check the more I am noticing lots, not few, of messages missing across many communities. Happy to point out specifics if it would help, but it seems fairly widespread. This totally defeats the purpose of having an account at a smaller instance if we can't view so many posts that we have to constantly read at he source and then can't vote / comment.
I found out about it because of a hacker news comment discussing the Reddit drama. I'm pretty upset that I didn't discover it on Reddit. I assume any mention of Lemmy was marked as spam or was I just not browsing the right communities?
How do you set up a server? Do you do any automation or do you just open up an SSH session and YOLO? Any containers? Is docker-compose enough for you or are you one of those unicorns who had no issues whatsoever with rootless Podman? Do you use any premade scripts or do you hand craft it all? What distro are you building on top...
I try to have most of the common parts setup with ansible. Over time, keep adding more and more. This is useful specially for things you may not do, or need, often and that is not as fresh on your mind how you set it up last time.
Any configuration management system would work; I find ansible is very approachable and fast to get productive with it.
New to VLemmy, and Lemmy, trying to understand about federation. For example if I search for postgresql in browse.feddit.de I see only one answerโฆ Using that to subscribe, but if I search for FreeBSD there is one answer from lemmy.ml and one from lemmy.world.
There is a way to donate. So far seems like there are very few of us supporting, but as more people discover and start to use it hopefully more people will donate.
