I definitely ran in to this same issue on my old phone running Android 10 ( i think it was either a Nokia or Moto). It is definitely an Android thing rather than a Xiaomi thing
Meta conducted an experiment where thousands of users were shown chronological feeds on Facebook and Instagram for three months. Users of the chronological feeds engaged less with the platforms and were more likely to use competitors like YouTube and TikTok. This suggests that users prefer algorithmically ranked feeds that show...
Honest question, could threads federating backfire? If meta federates, suddenly everyone in EU will want a mastodon to be able to view Threads content, and mastodon has lots of much nicer and more mature apps, not to mention privacy concerns. I think it’s possible allowing Threads to federate could be very good for fediverse adoption in the short term at least.
I’m simply asking this question because of Lemmygrad.ml existing, and that there isn’t a far-right equivalent of it yet. If Lemmygrad has any standing for its right to exist under free speech, where is the line drawn for other extremist political ideologies? If Holodomor skepticism is allowed, then what stops Holocaust...
I have too, but let’s be realistic, and accept the honest fact that in far left spaces, racism, homophobia, transphobia etc us far, far less acceptable than in far right spaces. I’ve hung out with hardcore marxists and despite not necessarily agreeing with their political takes I’ve never had to feel uncomfortable with my race or sexuality in the same way that even mildly right-leaning folks have made me feel.
Yes, I’m sure racism and homophobia exist on the far left, but it’s an extreme minority on that side compared to on the right where it’s a pretty mild take, and treating the two as remotely equivalent is very harmful in itself.
I live in Whitiora and work in Frankton so most days I can walk or cycle to work. Today just happened to be the first day in months i had to go to Auckland. Very big case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
I just remember playing megaman 1 on NES over and over mostly to listen to the music after you beat the first bosses, i loved the music of that game so much!
I'd say for me it's is in Ocarina of Time, the first time nighttime came and the skeletons started coming out of the ground. Scared me shitless. Actually now I think about it, definitely not the "best" but one of the most memorable moments for sure

Thanks for this response, couldn't agree more. Unfortunately while "don't be a dick" should be easy enough to do, I do believe having strong and clear guidelines will save everyone from a lot of stress and headaches in the future.
I 100% believe in "don't be a dick" as a guiding principle for this community. Unfortunately what counts as "dickishness" is vague and very subjective, so I think having strong guidelines to help us make this a chill and dickishness-free place will help a lot in achieving that goal.
