Ilovethebomb,

Where was this taken?

Ilovethebomb,

It sounds like it was pretty spectacular down south, not so much in Wellington.

Ilovethebomb,

Odd that this happens in the morning, I was under the impression peak demand was early evening when everyone gets home?

Ilovethebomb,

I wonder if they’re forecasting less generation in the morning, perhaps no wind?

Ilovethebomb,

That makes sense actually.

Ilovethebomb,

I do think you’re right, it’s all theatre and they don’t actually believe what they’re saying.

It does make it difficult to take them seriously though.

Ilovethebomb,

would we be discussing this and thinking about these issues if they had been less extreme?

If they had been less extreme, we’d be discussing the message, not the messenger.

Ilovethebomb,

purging Te Reo from the public service

They are mandating English first in agency names, Te Reo will still be there.

committing to the Crown unilaterally reinterpreting the Treaty.

As far as it’s first reading in the house, sure.

threatening the Waitangi tribunal

Threatening them with what, exactly?

slashing services both in scale and in approach (e.g. removing Treaty obligations from OTs remit), while massively increasing funding for prisons.

Labour’s approach to crime has failed spectacularly, even Hipkins has admitted they got things wrong. This is also exactly what they campaigned on.

Ilovethebomb,

The message was that the government is trying to exterminate Maori, did you not read the article?

Ilovethebomb,

That is literally what they said.

Ilovethebomb,

It’s not a particularly nuanced statement in the first place, is it?

Ilovethebomb,

don’t want to engage with the problem being raised in good faith.

Do you think TPM is engaging in good faith with a statement like that?

Ilovethebomb,

I think they are using hyperbole to bring attention to the issue.

Many people would consider that acting in bad faith.

Ilovethebomb,

You’re a strange fellow.

Ilovethebomb,

What a dork, of course they will come around. It may take some time and some convincing, but people will definitely accept this.

Ilovethebomb,

I hadn’t really thought about this before now, but all four MPs that have been in the news for the wrong reasons have been women.

Ilovethebomb,

The party itself definitely holds it’s candidates to a higher standard, no argument there.

I think most National supporters would think Uffindell was a mistake though.

Ilovethebomb,

It’s clear that most National supporters would have no problems with what he did

How is it clear? What evidence do you have to back this up?

Ilovethebomb,

By the same logic, Green voters are also OK with Marama’s blatant racism, and Labour voters are all OK with the dumb ideas they came out with in the run up to the last election.

Interesting way of thinking.

Ilovethebomb,

Oh, you poor thing.

Even Hipkins acknowledges they had some pretty crummy ideas leading up to the election, why do you think they’ve dropped no GST on fresh fruit as a policy?

And how is singling out one ethnic group for causing violence in the world not racist?

Ilovethebomb,

That’s what I at least try to do, and so far I’ve ended up voting for either Labour or National. There’s a lot of people in this thread making excuses for the greens, which is quite surprising.

Ilovethebomb,

It wasn’t supposed to be, just something that occurred to me as I was reading the article.

Ilovethebomb,

When I read the title, I thought this would be a publicity stunt. Amazing that they got to work with NASA like this, and it’s great publicity for them.

Ilovethebomb,

Oh, we’re well aware of your political leanings. It’s not like you talk about anything else.
