governorkeagan,

Never thought I’d learn how to use tar on a meme post.

governorkeagan,

I’ve got two Sandisks (both 64GB but different models) that have both been through the washing machine multiple times (accidentally) and haven’t failed yet. They are probably about 3 years old at this point but I can’t remember.

governorkeagan,

I’ve just finished installing Silverblue on the laptop but will give Bluefin a shot. Thanks for the tip!

governorkeagan,

I think the “difficult” part for a lot of people has to do with the network effect. There is more friction to using Matrix over Discord because all of their friends use Discord (as an example). Of course, this wouldn’t apply to everything but it is definitely something that has an effect.

Need Some Total Noob Advice for Installing and Running Linux

Alright, peeps, I want to build Linux on my new PC and need some help with that. On my old PC, I had kubuntu installed, which I liked (at least until downloading Skype fried most of my installers and rebuffed all attempts at deinstallation). When installing kubuntu, I had a lot of help (and by a lot, I mean my friend did like...

governorkeagan,
  1. Pop!_OS and Zorin OS are both really nice beginner friendly distros (besides the ones already mentioned).
  2. github.com/Gingeh/wallpapers
governorkeagan,

I’ve got a personal and business account with Revolut. You need to use Google Wallet or Apple Pay, you cannot tap to pay directly through the app.

governorkeagan,

I was hoping to go out tonight but it looks like it’ll be a little too cloudy

governorkeagan,

It all started with a bad update that led to a kernel mismatch. I then attempted to fix the issue and made it worse…it was a little too much for my skill level (I was reading forum posts with similar issues when trying to fix it.)

governorkeagan,

This. Thank you for explaining it correctly, I’ve seen sooo many people saying it’s just filters. Of course, there will almost always be some colour correction but the way a camera a camera can capture the light is different to the naked eye.

governorkeagan,

It was causing me too much of a headache to try troubleshoot and fix that I decided to wipe the drive. I’ve got Fedora Silverblue running on the machine now. Thanks for the help!

Been using Lemmynade (!lemmynade) and am super happy with it. My instance also has a really nice looking frontend that works as a PWA as well.

(Newbie question) Did i handle my system crashing correctly?

Ive just installed Linux (Fedora 40 KDE) on my main PC over the weekend, so im a complete newbie and i apologize if some of my questions are nonsensical 😅. Yesterday evening the system seemed to completely lock up at a certain point while playing Red Dead Redemption 2 for the first time (installed & run via steam using proton...

governorkeagan,

I don’t remember that scene from RDR2, I guess I need to go back and play it from the beginning again!

Regarding the crash, here are my two cents. I’ve played RDR2 on Pop!_OS and EndeavourOS and have not really had any major issues (I’ll get to that in a second). My specs are similar but not quite the same as yours:

  • Ryzen 5 3600
  • Nvidia GTX 1660TI
  • 32 GB RAM

The issues I’ve had have not been as major as the game/system crashing the same way yours did. However, I have had serious screen tearing and worsened performance (although not very often at all). Every time, I have updated the graphics driver or kernel (or both) and upon rebooting and starting the game again the issue was fixed. This may very well be the case for yourself as others have already mentioned.

governorkeagan,

You don’t tell people that you use Arch in random conversations? /s

Looking to make the switch

Hi everyone, looking to make the switch from windows. I’m reasonably technically apt but not a programmer by any means. I’ve been doing some homework on which distro I would like to use and pop_os kinda feels like the right direction. I’m running an Nvidia 3060TI on a Ryzen 5600 chip set on an Asus tuf motherboard. Any...

governorkeagan, (edited )

I have been running Pop!_OS for a couple months (Linux in general), it’s been rock solid! I had it running dual booted with Windows for about 1.5 months and had no issues. Nvidia drivers also just work really well.

I’ve been looking around to see if the grass is greener on the other side with other distros, but I keep coming back to Pop!_OS. I’m also super excited about their new Desktop Environment (DE) coming later this year.

**EDIT:**System76 (the people who make Pop) have some really good articles/docs on installing and using Pop - installing Pop!_OS, TechHut Video on dual booting & piped version
