Yeah, there are piracy websites that comply with DMCA notices but, like Youtube in the olden days, it’s basically whack-a-mole on the copyright holders’ part because they have to give individual notices for each pirated copy. So like you say, you can probably find other copies anyway.

Yeah, KISS is amazing, versatile and simple with a small footprint. It honestly should be the default throughout Android.

It does the absolute basic of what a launcher should do and then some, doesn’t track you and gets out of your way. Those principles wouldn’t kill Android, but maybe Google’s ad revenue would smart a bit.

Yeah, that’s a George Carlin quote, and I’m well aware of it. It’s no excuse for dumbing down interfaces like a launcher, or filling it with superfluous features (that coincidentally feed into a corporate clickhole).

Rather than the grim idea that everybody gets an interface the lowest common denominator will grasp, I maintain that everybody deserves a functional, no-bullshit launcher like KISS. It absolutely isn’t what you make it out to be.

I have the LibRedirect browser add-on installed which uses proxigram.

It seems Instagram are doing their worst to swat third party access overall so it’s not a perfect alternative. Still beats getting tracked wherever you browse, though.

Would you teach your kids how to pirate?

My gf and I have had discussions about teaching morals to kids. In that vein, I asked myself, would I teach piracy to my kids? Yes, it’s technically illegal and carries inherent risks. But so does teenage sex carry the risks of teenage pregnancy, and so we have an obligation to children to teach them how to practice safe sex....

Oh, in the end I just pulled a $ sudo dracut --regenerate-all --force to generate a working initramfs. But did you find a solution to your problem? Glad you found a fix!

Just set up pandoc and Bob’s your uncle. It’ll convert markdown to anything. You’ll never have to open another word processor.

Pandoc + [your markdown editor of choice] is magic. Some editors even come with Pandoc as a dependency so you can export to more or less anything from the GUI. I think GhostWriter and Zettlr at least (I honestly can’t be sure, I’ve changed editors so often and now I just have some Pandoc conversion scripts in my file manager menu).
