Trying to explain to a Jewish friend why Catholic suffering is different than Jewish suffering. The whole point of Catholic suffering is to suffer the most and the worst that a human being can possibly endure. If you’re lucky, you will suffer to death, which is the best thing you can do. There’s no point in alleviating your suffering or anyone else’s because it’s getting you points for the afterlife. See: Mother Theresa withholding treatment from suffering people because they were doing the lord’s work. IMHO the Catholic view of suffering is unhinged.
