helenslunch,

LOL just another way to mine data and extract value from you, rather than providing it.

helenslunch,

I mean it’s probably a similar amount of time and effort trying to fix Windows than it is learning to use Linux.

helenslunch,

I spent many years trying to fix Windows before moving…

Just got tired of fixing the same bullshit over and over in this cat and mouse game trying to gain control of my computer.

helenslunch,

PayPal might be able to fill the same role?

Tap to pay can be set up either through a digital wallet app or through the phone’s settings, depending on the device. On Android, for example, a user would open the Google Wallet app

helenslunch,

Do not use this. Do not install EGS or GOG on your device.

Use Heroic Games Launcher.

helenslunch,

Terrorism is a label terrorists slap on freedom fighters.

helenslunch,

Then you are ignorant.

helenslunch,

Nothing in any of these links indicate that Ford is not profitable.

There’s no reason to lie about these things, as Ford’s financials are publicly available.

helenslunch,

The cherry on top is blaming Linux for multiple cases of teams being ass

Blaming anyone is a waste of breath.

It doesn’t matter whose fault it is. What matters is that it doesn’t work.

helenslunch, (edited )

A couple of things we’re learning here:

  1. Your personal data in PSN is more profitable than actually selling the game in 180 other countries.
  2. The continued enforcement and even expansion of the delisting in these countries, which we now know was done by Sony is proof-positive that they’re just going to try again to enforce this at a later date.
helenslunch, (edited )

I don’t know where people get these ideas from. Sony has been around for 40 years, and they haven’t done so by shooting themselves in the foot.

helenslunch,

Clearly you don’t understand the phrase “shooting yourself in the foot”. What you described are mistakes. What they’re being accused of is intentional.

helenslunch,

…wat?

helenslunch,

…and?

helenslunch,

You’re going to have to be a lot more descriptive…

helenslunch,

All of it. But mostly the “kept the tech to themselves”. What “tech”? Why?

helenslunch,

You ever heard of a little thing called Blu-Ray? Was that open source?

Ever heard of a little company called Apple? Because they’re basically the antithesis of open source but still insanely successful.

helenslunch,

Or get Valve to implement better control of our privacy

Even Valve cannot delete publicly available information from someone else’s server.

Archive.org does the same.

helenslunch,

Steve mentions in that video that it’s not the first time they have covered Asus’ shit warranty and inherently-flawed designs so its unlikely it will ever improve either.

helenslunch,

All depends. If you play games that only run in Windows, you’ll want a Windows device. If you want maximum performance at the expense of battery life, you won’t want a Steam Deck either.

Ideally Valve would work on making SteamOS as good on Ally as it is on SD but they don’t seem to be interested in that.

Can somebody explain why game makers don't start their own companies together?

It seems like every other week a game studio is massively laying off employees; sometimes after years of development. What I’m reading is that it’s a quick way to lower expenses and pad the investors’ pockets, flooding the market with developers and reducing their value, to then hire them back a few months later at lower...

helenslunch,

what’s holding back gamedevs from banding together to either unionize or start their own companies

Same thing as any other business: money.

helenslunch,

They do. There are plenty of indie Devs.

Exactly. In fact, there are so many indie Devs that it’s nigh-impossible to break through the massive numbers of them. Occasionally there are breakthroughs like Stardew Valley, Hades, Vampires, etc.

On the other hand, you partner with a company like Microsoft or Sony and you’re basically guaranteed success. They put up all the capital to make sure you make it to release (albeit probably a rushed, half-baked one that you just fix later because why not). Even if your game blows ass and is completely broken, full of DRM, microtransactions and ads, gamers still buy that shit up.

helenslunch,

I think there is a correct and perfectly fine way to advertise but it certainly less effective.
